Each individual was asked to state how many years he had goneto school, where the school was located, and the character of theschool. The information thus given is classified and presented inTables Q and R, but not with the idea that detailed comparisons are ofgreat significance or profit. It has not been possible to attempt toevaluate in any way a year of training in the public elementary schoolsof New York in terms of training in the schools in Russia, Poland, andelsewhere, attended by these subjects. Much less is there availableany definite measure of the comparative value of the work of theso-called public schools in Russia, in which the pupils pay tuition, andthe Yiddish parochial or private schools, and other types which havebeen mentioned in the schedules.
