Excellent publicschools, besides Eaton FamilySchool and Pratt Free School.Churches, — three Baptist, three Congregational, two Methodist andone Catholic. A savings bank. A manufacturing town. Good hotelsand boarding-houses. Building lots, from $50 to $1,000. TheNantasket River, Assawamsett Pond, and several lesser fresh-watercollections afford fine fishing and diversify the scenery. AssawamsettPond is the largest sheet of fresh water in the State. The town hasinteresting historic associations, and was the scene of some of MylesStandishs most daring exploits. Fifteen miles to Plymouth and thesea-shore. Excellent for summer or permanent residence. A growingplace, with many fine estates and dwellings. From Middleboro the OldRoad continues, via Myricks, to terminus in Fall River. Middleborois also a terminus of the Middleboro, Taunton & Providence Branchof the Old Colony Railroad. 4;>
