Here the climate is tempered by cool breezes, andthousands seek these hills to breathe the pure air and enjoy anddrink in the beauties of Nature. The Berkshire and Litchfield hillsnot only possess those qualities which go to make up a popular placeof summer sojourn, but they are the only autumn resort in theUnited States. With autumn the seaside resorts become depopulated, for theoutlook is dreary and the air is chill.
