Indeed, it is the general opinion of all widely-traveled peoplewho visit it that, in respect to the remarkable combination and greatvariety of imposing lake and mountain views, it has no superior, if,indeed, it has any rival, on the Atlantic seaboard. The air is delightfully cool and bracing, the thermometer rare-ly rising above eighty degrees Fahrenheit. lake minnewaska, about five miles from Lake Mohonk and tenmiles southwest of New Paltz, is much larger than the latter. The lake, which is fed by springs, is very deep and clear ascrystal, is held in a strikingly picturesque, rocky and well-woodedbowl, rising one hundred and fifty feet above the lake on the easternside and sixty feet on the western, and from either edge the rocks LOO ~#f

The same conditions of remarkably bracing and enjoyably coolatmosphere obtain here as at its neighboring lake, Mohonk. It being on the crown of a ridge, dew seldom falls, the drainageis perfect, and the hills surrounding are covered with resinous pineforests. bLOYD, Ulster Countcj, N- Y.
