23C TV. Route 68. NEUCHATEL. Collegiate Church. Behind the mii8eum, ou the E. side, is a burial of the lake-dwellingperiod, from Auvemier (p. 289). The Colleffe Lafin (grammar school; PI. C, 4) contains a goodnatural history collection (adni., see p. 234) and the municipallibrary (ir)0,000 vols.). The Place Purry (PI. B, 4) contains a bronzestatue by David dAngers (1855) of David de Purry, a merchantof Neuchatel, who died at Lisbon in 1789, leaving a fortune to hisnative town. The Rue du Scyon, which ascinrls hence to the N.,occupies the original bed of the Seyon torrent (p. 237). Hide-streetslead on the left (o the Halles (market; PI. B, 3), a picturesque Be-naissance building (lo7<t), and on the left to the Hotel de Ville(PLC.3), built in 1784-00 at the expense of David de Purry. Amongthe old Fountains in this part of the town are the Standard BearerFountain at the Croix du March^, the Justice Fountain in the Ruede rHopital, and the Griffin Fountain in the Rne du Chateau. —Oppo
