One would think if this were really the case, every-thing would be done to encourage an interest in this direction,and what better means is there for furthering this interestthan that which the camera affords of making lastingphotographic records of the denizens of the Zoo. I have been to the Bronx Park Zoo many times, but havealways come away disappointed at not being able to use thecamera. Of course, small cameras are smuggled in andexposures made surreptitiously with them, but this kind ofphotographic work is not satisfactory, and one does not getany real pleasure from it. If the reason for prohibiting the cameras is a mercenaryone, (and it is the only one I can think of), why not chargea nominal fee, say fifty cents, for a permit to take pictures?This would be willingly paid by serious workers, and therevenue derived would more than offset any loss o
