WHILE making every possible effort to produceTidy and Elegant Boots and Shoes for thesmallest possible amount of money, we set ourface determinedly, as every wearer of Boots shouldknow, against the use of all Cardboard, Composition,and other materials falsely named Leather, which areused in enormous quantities both for Lisoles and - Out-soles of Boots. This latter material is neither morenor less than Raw Hides, stained and half burned byhot and vicious liquors, then loaded with rubbish,which is managed by the cunningly-devised trick ofgetting it soaked or driven into the so-called leather.This material can then be sold at any price, as it iswrought up by unscrupulous manufacturers. When thisis used, more especially inside Boots, if once wet itnever again gets thoroughly dry, staining many pairsof good stockings, and keeping the feet in a moist,uncomfortable, and unhealthy condition.
