Description
English: The Greenwich Pensioner

Wood engraving of a Greenwich Pensioner seated to the right, leaning on a stick held between his knees in his right hand, smoking a pipe and with his face shaded by his hat - though not enough to conceal a red drinker's nose. Lines from a song by Charles Dibdin (possibly 'The Greenwich Pensioner') are below the title: '-I'm a seaman and only three-score:- / A d--d bad joke that this battered old hulk / Can't be fitted out for sea once more.' This image may relate to PAI8797 in terms of original source. It is mounted on a sheet with PAI8792-PAI8793 and PAI8795-PAI8797.
