First Premium at the World's Fair, Chicago, 1893, out of 250 varieties. This immensely productive and excellent potato, introduced by us in 1894, still holds its reputation as a great yielder and a first quality table potato. The reports and sworn statements we have received about this new potato since its first introduction would almost stagger belief did we not know that they were from the most reliable persons, and many of them sworn to before Justices of the Peace and witnessed by disinterested parties. The reports received for 1897, although not quite so heavy as the previous year (owing to an unfavorable season), are enough to satisfy anyone that the Adirondac is one of the most valuable and productive ever introduced into this country. As can be seen by the above illustration, the tubers are as nearly perfect in form and shape as it is possible for a potato to be. The skin is smooth, white, slightly russeted, eyes few and very shallow, flesh snow-white, dry and floury when cooked. The flavor is simply delicious, surpassed by no other potato in this respect. The vines are strong, sturdy, and vigorous, free from blight. The tubers lie compact in the hill, fair to large size, and, we might say, positively no small potatoes. This is one great cause of the immense yield, as it is no uncommon thing to find eight to ten fine potatoes to the hill, all of marketable size.
