gros West Point.I am not sure of retaining all theories,rules, and lessons learned there in classrooms; but I am thankful for the lessonsof order, regularity, system, discipline.We learn the discipline of heart, ofprayer, praise and worship from thechapel. The discipline of mind—learn-ing a short lesson well, being accurate,exact iu detail, specific in recitation,careful in address; this is inspired bythe class-room. Then the discipline ofbody, of head and limb, either on theplayground or in the workshop; the highrequirement of honor, of honesty, ofrugged manhood, of playing hard—trueand mighty, of working steadfastly andcontinually; these are inspired by theindustrial work of the school and bysupervision over the playground. If THE Rev. W. H. Shepard, mission-ary of the Southern PresbyterianChurch in the Congo Free State, whowas recently charged with libelling theBelgian government because of his dis-closures with regard to the Congoatrocities, has been tried and acquitted.
