the two ro X 6 X10 in. Snow duplex oumps and two Monitor injectors, allin close proximity to each other, and are especially wellarranged for their accessibility and manipulation. Owing to the short distance which this plant affordedfor tension runs and apparatus, it has been imperative todevise some special means for securing the maximumamount of travel on a short run to obviate the necessityfor shortening the ropes. A special type of tighteningagent has been provided in the direct tension weights,whereby a sufficient travel has been obtained equal almostto the length of the run, and the take-up gear instead ofbeing a part of the tension carriage, as in most instances,is permanently fixed at the extreme end of the run. Thelead of the ropes, to which the weights are suspended, issecured by means of an overhead structure, to which thecarriage sheaves and brackets are attached, thus main-taining the much desired space in the reel room, which ison the same level with the machinery floor.
