When a suf-ficient quantity has collected it is drawn into afilter and from this filter it is again pumpedinto the supply tank, and used again and again. The cylinders are supplied with improvedsight feed lubricators, having a lead not onlyto the steam pipe before entering the cylinderas usual, but in addition to the center of eachvalve. This allows a chance for direct lubri-cation should the valve require it. Each valveis also supplied with a cylinder oil pump thatcan be used, should an accident befall thesight feed lubricator. OPERATION. The following report taken from the log book at thisstation for ten days may be of interest. Waste, white 29 The station was built from plans and specificationsprepared by F. S. Pearson. JERSEY CITY POWER STATION. The second power station of the company is in JerseyCity near the foot of Montgomery Street hill. It is along brick building with gable roof, and has been extendeda number of times since it was put in operation in 1892.Water for condensing purposes is secured at high tide fromthe meadows at the foot of the hill, and retained until thenext high tide in a reservoir excavated for the purpose. The engine equipment consists of three Allis cross-compound engines, one of 750 h. p. and two of 500 h. p.each, directly connected to a Westinghouse generator, and The total car mileage per month for the ten monthsending last May is as follows: Aug. 1,055,349.
