e, later going to Elizabeth, N. J., asan inspector and working his way up until he became divisionsuperintendent. MR. C. F. BAKER has been engaged by Mr. L. B. Stillwellas superintendent of power and construction in connection withthe engineering and operating contract which Mr. Stillwell hasrecently executed with the United Railways & Electric Company,of Baltimore. Mr. Baker is well known to the engineering fra-ternity and the railroad world. He has filled the office of Presi-dent of the American Railway Mechanical and Electrical Asso-ciation; and has taken a prominent part in the councils of thatbody, of the New England, Railroad Club, and of the New Eng-land Street Railway Club. For many years Mr. Baker was withthe West End Street Railway Company, of Boston, and theBoston Elevated Railway Company, in charge of the constructionand operation of their power plants and rolling stock. He isregarded as one of the ablest and most experienced, practical menin this line of work. Plate I
