The whole drainage areaof Kivu has been added to that of Tanganyika ; and it isa most remarkable fact that the outlet of Kivu, the RusisiRiver, is five or six times bigger than the Euakuga, theoutlet of Tanganyika itself Were we, therefore, to cutoff the Rusisi River from Tanganyika, that lake wouldaltogether cease to overflow. The water of Tanganyika is somewhat salt.
