THRUSHES 623 756. Hylocichla Juscescens (Steph.). Wilsons Thrush;Veery; Tawny Thrush; Cheeury; Common Thrush; Nightin-gale. Plumage of adults: above an uniform cinnamon brown, which by manywould be called a deep russet or mummy brown; below white, stronglytinged with pale ochraceous buff on the sides of the throat and breast; cen-ter of the throat and the belly white; sides of throat and breast sparselyspotted with pale sepia wedge-shaped marks and a few fainter spots of thesame on the breast; lores and ring around eye grayish white. Immatureplumage: above deep umber brown, spotted with tawny olive and edgedwith dusky; otherwise very similar indeed to adults. Wing 3.90; tail 2.95;culmen 0.54. Geog. Dist.—Eastern North America, breeding from northern Illinois, NewJersey and Pennsylvania to Manitoba, Ontario, Anticosta and Newfoundlandand southward along the Alleghany Mountains to North Carolina; winteringin southern Florida sparingly, and more generally in Central America.
