At a distance of 12 miles to the cast of it, on alonely rock, stands the Bell Rock Lighthouse. Carnoustie is merely a favourite watering-place, but Arbroath, though itsharbour is small, is a port of some importance, and manufactures canvas and sack-ing. It was fomous in former times for its abbey, of which only ruins nowexist.
