A glance at a badgers armed craniumsuggests a good deal in this connection, theinterlocking teeth—the holders, and theway in which the lower jaw is articulated withthe upper, explaining the hold which the badgeris able to take and keep. It may at once be stated that the olderbarbarous methods of badger baiting hadnothing in common with badger hunting proper,or digging the badger. If fairly pursued,this is a legitimate sport to every one concerned—including the badger. The method of hunt-ing him nowadays is to wait quietly until he has moonlight runs. Only those who have takenpart can appreciate the fun to bo derived fromrushing the brock back to his dark retreat. The above is one method of hunting.Badger digging proper is another.
