rest of their garments were well venti-lated, and sometimes seemed in danger of falling topieces altogether. Their food seemed most inadequate—a chunk of bread, an onion (alas for the passengerwho hates the smell of an onion !), endless cups of teaat wayside restaurants, and frequent whiffs of smokefrom their tiny pipes.
