The Chronicle is an independent Republican paper; the Examiner is theleading organ of the Democracy; the CaHis independent; the Alia, as has beenstated, is Dvimocratic, and the Bulletin and Post are Republican. The Call,Chronicle and Examiner are published daily and weekly, each journal makinga special feature of the Sunday edition. The Post and Bulletin (evening) donot publish on Sundays. All of the daily journals are comparatively wellequipped and organized, with a wide circulation. Conspicuous among our leading literary weeklies are the Argonaut, News,Letter, and Wasp. B>ank M. Pixley is the proprietor of the Argonaut, FredMarriott & Son are proprietors of the Neics Letter, while the Wasp, an illus-trated comic sheet, is owned by E. C. Mac Farlane & Co. The Argonaut isremarkable for the vigor of its editorials; the Neivs Letter, for the wit and pungency of its paragraphs; and the Wasp, for its humorous illustrations and itssatire.
