es par la morfure des ces Tortues. T E S T U D 0 arcuata. The Trunk-Turtle. I Never law one of thefe Turtles ; they are notcommon, being but rarely taken. 1 was toldthey grow to a very large fize, of a narrow form,but very deep ; the upper fhell being more convexthan in the other kinds of Turtle. Their flefh isrank, but affords a large quantity of oil, which isall it is valued for. In the repofitory of the Royal Society, is a Turtlepreferved intire, which I take to be of this fpecies. La Tortue appellee le Coffre. 7E ri ai jamais vu aucune de ces Tortues: elles nefont pas communes, car on en pre?id rarement :on ma dit qu elles devenoient extrêmement grandes,étroites, mais fort épaijjes, récaille de dejfus étant plusconvexe que dans les autres efpeces de Tortues. Leurchair eft rance ; mais on en tire une grande quantitédhuile ; êP cefi ce qui en fait tout le mérite. Il y a dans le cabinet de la Société Royale une 7or-tue confervée toute entière, que je croi de cette efpece.
