As the requisite conditions are ful-filled during gestation, Jacquemin and Kluge proposed to includethis coloration of the vagina, which they compared to wine-lees, amongthe signs of pregnancy. It occurs, however, though perhaps to a lessintense degree, in prolapsus uteri, in cases of pelvic tumors, and thelike. As free intercommunication exists between the vaginal plexusand the plexuses distributed to the pudendum, the rectum, the blad-der, and the uterus, a disturbance in the circulation of any one ofthese organs is necessarily attended with some degree of circulatorydisturbance in all the contiguous organs.
