AtNingal lies a tiny fleet of pleasure craft, includ-ing a racing cutter, an American-designed Una,a jolly-boat, and a steam launch, a variety thatgives promise of increasing numbers in the future.The ponderous house-boat, creeping laboriouslyfrom port to port, is a more familiar sight, andmakes an excellent moveable pivot for a sportingcruise. The fisherman has deserted Ningal formore profitable waters, but the finest chikorshooting in Kashmir can be obtained along theshores of the Woollar lake. To indulge in thissport a license must be taken out from theKashmir Government; this permit costs lessthan thirty shillings, and covers chikor, pheasantand partridge from September to February;duck, geese, snipe and teal from September untilApril.
