On this occasion he said to hisfather, I will go and do the things which God has command-ed, for I know that the Lord gives no commandment tothe children of men, save he prepares a way that they maydo the thing that he requires of them. When Lehi saw howstrong was his sons faith he greatly rejoiced, for he per-ceived that Nephi had been much blessed of the Lord. At last all the sons consented to return and get theplates. WhenLaman returned to his brothers they were very sad at hear-ing how violently Laban had acted. All but Nephi wishedto return to their father in the wilderness; but he wouldnot consent. He had come up to Jerusalem to do what Godhad commanded, and he would not return until he haddone it. He said to his brothers, As the Lord liveth, andas we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilder-ness, until we have accomplished the thing which theLord has commanded us.
