There are seven largebathing-houses in Teplitz and two in Schonau, butall are so crowded in the height of the season thatpatients who neglect to apply for a bathing-roomseveral days before entering on the bath-course havescarcely any chance of getting accommodated at aconvenient hour. The arrangements in general arecomplete ; the rooms are large and high, the bathing-tubs of marble or porcelain ; to bathe in them isindeed a great luxury. There is a Trinkhalle, where all kinds of bottledmineral waters are sold and drunk. A Kurgarten,situated in the centre of the city, is the point ofattraction for visitors in the morning from six tilleight oclock, while the band is executing popularcompositions of celebrated masters. From 12 till1 p.m. the fashionable world crowd in the beautifulpark of Prince Clarys Schloss (castle) to listen againto the concert, and to gaze at each other ; there is afine restaurant, where refreshments are served, andtable dhdte dinners are prepared. vSeveral new parks (Siumepark, Kaiserpark) andnew promenades (Hitmbold-, Payer-Anlageri) have beenlaid out of late. Close by the city is the KonigsJwhe (800 feet) andhigher up the Schlackenberg, a curious structure in theshape of a mediaeval castle, built of bricks and slags.A short distance from the city (15 or 25 minutes) arethe following interesting points : Stefanshohe, Tasa-nerie, Tumerpark, Bergschlosschen (1000 feet) and theSchlossberg, with the ruins of an old castle razed in1655. All these points have fine shady promenadesand restaurants. There are also numerous interesting places in theneighbourhood of Teplitz, which can be reached bya few hours carriage
