English: The world according to Mercator's projection or Edw Wright's

Single sheet, hand coloured engraving. Mercator projection. Two sets of diagrams above the map illustrate: Plain sailing in its most usual cases, and The usual cases of Wright's sailing. From an unidentified navigation manual (perhaps by Patoun) Plate 3, Page 48. It illustrates the trigonometry needed to use a Mercator seachart.
