Many of the prisoners, says Sir. Moffat, were ex-tremely weak, and the Griquas in general manifested great indifference about collecting them.They seemed also in general destitute of sympathy for the wounded, and disinclined to renderthem assistance. The cattle which had been captured, to the number of a thousand orupwards, was the chief object of their solicitude. The charge of collecting and bringing onthe women and children was left entirely to Mr. Melvill and myself, with only two or threepersons to assist us.
