Notes
  • 1988 Charles E. Peterson Prize, Honorable Mention
  • Significance: Hotel A, located on the West Range of Mr. Jefferson's academical village, the University of Virginia, like the other five hotels, was used for dieting the students. The simple one story arcaded structure displays Jefferson's acceptance of early nineteenth century Roman classicism. It was used for its original purpose until the turn of the century, when the physiology department moved into it. With the opening of the medical school, the facilities were no longer needed and it became the home of the Virginia Quarterly Review, which it remains today.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-357
  • Survey number: HABS VA-193-N
  • Building/structure dates: 18t1
