Description
English: U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Curtis Thaxton, non-commissioned officer in charge of the Farah Provincial Reconstruction Team Medical Team, interacts with Maimana and her friend, two refugee girls living in the Farah City District V Refugee Camp, Jan. 9. Thaxton travelled to the camp with members of the PRT Civil Affairs Team from Forward Operating Base Farah, to help deliver 26 boxes of donations sent from the United States. Five of the boxes were sent to Thaxton by his friend Charlie Thompson who is in charge of the Cub Scout Pack 2 (Mystic) and the American Heritage Girls Troop located near Thaxton's hometown of Gales Ferry, Conn. Both the Cub Scout and Girls Troop are from Stonington, Conn. Thaxton said his friend Charlie wanted to teach the young Americans about Afghanistan and what the American military is accomplishing here.
