the machines we were fly-ing, and turned away quickly. They hadbeen looking for easier prey, and were notvery anxious for battle. We went afterthem, though, and owing to our superiorspeed were able to catch up with them. Intothe middle of them we went, and therefollowed a merry scrap. One of our trio, bysome misfortune, got mixed up in a badposition, as he was not seen again, and musthave been shot down. I was above the wholelot of them, the original four having beenjoined by three others now, and they weretrying to separate enough so that one or twoof their number could get to one side, thenclimb up and get on top of me. But themoment one of them would begin to go overto one side I would begin to cHmb, until Iwould point my nose in his direction, and, flying at wonderful speed, shoot across
