Use for book covers

I used the template for a book cover but, for some parameters, hesitate whether they got right values. Can anybody review/fix the use and, preferably, amend the doc? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 11:36, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Done with some minor changes. It was fine otherwise. --Jarekt (talk) 15:43, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I forgot to search for Kănchev in «Creator:», it was silly. But my main question isn’t addressed at all: how to signify that the image is a cover? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:51, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
I do not think we were trying to capture this information so far. {{Book}} template is often used in 2 modes:
  1. Whole book description, like this with Book template info in the file, or
  2. Individual page description, where we create specialized Book template, like this and than transclude it in a lot of files, like in here
Those 2 Modes should cover most of the use of Book template and none of them requires marking that this or that page is a title page or a cover. I think all we do to add the page to Category:Title pages or Category:Book covers if we want to indicate that. --Jarekt (talk) 19:54, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
I think the new |depicted part= parameter can be used for this. Cf. also the discussion at Module talk:Artwork#New |detail= parameter? For i18n of the value then I think {{label|Q1125338}} giving "book cover" would be fitting. --Marsupium (talk) 00:04, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

Switching to Lua based template

Lately I was working on rewriting {{Book}} to use Lua code Module:Artwork, already used by {{Artwork}} and {{Photograph}}. The new code will be able to utilize data from Wikidata if "wikidata" parameter is provided. I am not done testing it yet, but the new version can be accessed through {{Book/sandbox}} if anybody wants to try it. Also it would be great is people start adding "wikidata" parameters to their templates, as most wikisource entries are already connected. --Jarekt (talk) 20:10, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

This is great, gonna test it tommorow! I was looking how to replicate de artwork template (im not a programmer). @Joalpe: who was also interested. Cheers! Mauricio V. Genta (talk) 20:32, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
Not work oclc parameter, please revert changes to be sure work Shooke    (Talk me in spanish, english or italian) 17:03, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

This change has broken hundreds of uses of the template. The new version uses the parameter "permission=", but the previous edition used "license=" Couldn't we simply adjust the code rather than editing hundreds of broken template calls?

Also, the template is no longer providing the Wikisource links of the previous version. --EncycloPetey (talk) 00:13, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

This is a mess. We've now got the Wikisource icon at the top pointing to Wikipedia based on a field called "Wikisource". And the very useful link to the Wikisource Index: namespace has vanished. When will this be repaired? Beeswaxcandle (talk) 00:02, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
The only thing about the Wikisource icon that changed was the location and size. Now it is in the same spot as in other infobox templates, like {{Creator}} or {{Artwork}}. The page linked to is still the same page locally provided by the template, with the only exception that if local "wikisource" field is empty but we do have "Wikidata" field than the template checks if that wikidata item has sitelink to wikisource. I will reintroduce license field as alias of permission, but permission is the name of the field used by all the other infobox templates, so it should be more clear. --Jarekt (talk) 02:16, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

This template have sevral bugs, now, "source", before worked well Shooke    (Talk me in spanish, english or italian) 17:22, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

Please restore Source field

A recent change discarded all the "Source" data used in - literally - thousands of file pages with thsi template. For example, my GLAM project uses this field in thousands of images we uploaded to store informations about the original resource, link, collection, and category, within a template (example). All those informations suddenly disappeared (...hundrends of hours of work!). I cannot revert because template editing is restricted. Please restore this field, thank you. @Jcb, Jarekt, and Federico Leva (BEIC): --Marco Chemello (BEIC) (talk) 10:57, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Fixed Marco I think it should be fixed now. Please verify. --Jarekt (talk) 17:46, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
It's working again. Thank you @Jarekt: for your quick fix. --Marco Chemello (BEIC) (talk) 05:58, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

Testing solutions right now. --Jarekt (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

QuickStatements options

It's uses P170 (creator) instead of P50 (author) @Jarekt: it is possible to change that using the artwork module? Maybe we should move it to a new module for this?. Cheers!Mauricio V. Genta (talk) 21:17, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
