Hints for the user

I think this template should be enhanced by tips or hints on how to add the correct copyright tag to the image. As of now the user must guess what he is supposed todo, if he does not know already and has used only the license selector on the upload form sofar. Jklippel

Notifying the uploader

This template recommends putting {{subst:image source|Image:No license}} ~~~~ on the uploader's talk page. However, that template says "I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content" which is not the same as having no license. So, is there a better message template that can be used here? /Skagedal 10:55, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Please could you change {{No license/languages}} to {{No license/lang}} in {{No license}}? Then {{No license/languages}} may be deleted. Thanks in advance,

14 days?

Would it make sense to change the period of time to 14 days instead of 7? Commons users might not be as active as users on English Wikipedia, so I think 14 days is more reasonable. / Fred Chess 10:05, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Wrong message template

I just noticed that this template suggest you use "{{subst:image source|Image:No license}}~~~~" to notify the uploader. That doesn't seem quite right, surely it should say "{{subst:image license|Image:No license}}~~~~" instead. --Sherool (talk) 22:34, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

And nothing happens

Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be deleted seven days after this template was added. But nothing happens. For example in File:MuseoHistoriaMilitarCastelló.jpg. The user alse haven't obtained any massages. In other cases the user is alerted by User:Filbot. Something did wrong here.

More descriptive deletion reason

When you click on the trash can, the default deletion reason is:

No license since {{{day|}}} {{{month|}}} {{{year|}}}

I propose changing this to be more explicit, in line with {{Uwlsubst}}:

No license since {{{year|}}}-{{{month|}}}-{{{day|}}}. Please read the intro of [[COM:L]], about [[Commons:Essential information|essential information]] and about [[COM:CB#Internet_images|Internet images]]

changes to English version

I did some corrections to the English and Polish versions, namely made it relevant to PD cases and replaced request to include permissions from the authors in the file description and asked for such permissions to be send to OTRS. Thanks for resent improvements. How about the first sentence "This media file does not have sufficient information on its copyright status." How about "This media file does not have any required copyright tags indicating its copyright status."?
