I have removed the (incomplete) deletion request you put on this file. The other image you referred to, en:Image:Ausablelight.jpg, is on the English Wikipedia, not here on Commons. The file on Commons can be used by any wikimedia project, whereas the other image can only be used on the English Wikipedia. So your new upload is not a duplicate, and should remain; the other one can in fact be superseded by this new one. --dave pape (talk) 23:38, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. Hoping not to make a mess of things as I learn. Cheers, Berean Hunter (talk) 23:40, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Nice civil war photos- mind if I upload from there too?

I transfered and photoshop joined a photo from this source for a different site. Do you mind if I contribute some photos xfers to your project? J JMesserly (talk) 21:07, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

No, I don't mind. Glad to know they are of use and interest to someone. 8^D
What do you have in mind?

Thanks. I can assure you this work is of great interest, regardless of the fact that the people who benefit from this information are a little short on expressing gratitude to contributors. It is a not unfamiliar situation for anyone performing service. Anyway, I am not envisioning anything large scale. Just a few photos here and there associated with biographies of people not yet in wikipedia. J JMesserly (talk) 16:49, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
I look forward to it. Hopefully, I will have more time in the near future...I'm a little swamped in real life and not on-wiki as much as I would like to be.

Re: Fruits of your suggestion

Wow! That is impressive. I am glad that I was of some help to foster a greater work. I recall it was around 4 July 2009 when I was helping to find images for Category:John Hunt Morgan. If you had not done so, you should announce your effort at Wikipedia MILHIST. Jappalang (talk) 21:32, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Ruger 10/22 pic

Hello,

Saw your post of the suppressed Ruger 10/22 which stated that in the U.S. they're considered Class III weapons. This is incorrect, suppressors are Class II devices along with explosives and projectors. Fully autmoatic weapons are considered to be Class III weapons.

Have a good day :)

Tim

Hello Tim,
All NFA 1934 weapons are considered "machine guns" under the law. I believe you may be confusing the fact that it takes a Class II manufacturer to produce suppressed weapons. I just double-checked my actual paperwork and indeed it takes a Class III-licensed dealer to legally convey title of the weapon. Also, you should note that this 10/22 is also a short-barreled rifle in addition to being suppressed. Read the General Guide to Class 3 Weapons to see that this is so. Cheers,

RE: 10/22 pic

Ah, you have me there. I'd not thought of the barrel length. I was thinking more of what a citizen must obtain in order to purchase a suppressor. Which, as far as I understand, is to obtain a Class II license for the individual suppressor.

Tim :)

You mean a Title II registration. ...applied for with either a BATF Form 4 (for civilians) or BATF Form 5 (for law enforcement / government). Civilians may also receive a one-time transfer via Form 5. A weapon is referred to as a Class III weapon because it requires a Class III dealer to do the transaction as opposed to normal channels. Classes refer to licenses held by people whereas Titles refer to weapons. A "Class II license" is what a manufacturer needs to legally produce firearms. Although "Class III weapon" is an erroneous term, it is standard layman's usage and everyone knows what it means...not so with "Title II weapon".
You can see all of the ATF forms here.

My excursions

So I visited two of the three places you mentioned (the bicentennial garden and the bog garden), and, as far as turtles, they were duds. However, I took a ton of pictures of the places themselves...so, not a total loss (just a turtle loss). :-P NYMFan69-86 (talk) 18:35, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I also created the Bicentennial Garden page.--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 21:28, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
(apologetically late reply) Well done. Sounds like you enjoyed the time even without seeing any turtles. You never know what kind of photo opportunities you will have but you can take enjoyment in trying to get them. Another place you might try is Randleman Lake. If you can, use weather to your advantage. Good chance you could catch them basking in the sun on a cool morning. Frost is coming soon and then you will probably not have good chances until the warmth of Spring.
I'm looking for reds in Autumn color..primarily native plants but not finding good specimens or shots. Not the best color show I've seen. Haven't seen any turtles, either.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 10:36, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the days of winter are soon approaching...that means few opportunities remain to see painted turtles out in the wild. I will look into that lake to see if I can figure out if it definately has turtles. Exactly what native plant specimens are you looking for?--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 17:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
American Turkey Oak, White Oak, Bur Oak, American Persimmon, Pin cherry, Witch Hazel and Fothergilla major to name a few who have brilliant reds-to-orange but aren't represented well in our photos. So far, it hasn't been a good year but I'm hopeful.
One non-native, Persian Ironwood is worth the Fall photo if a good specimen can be found.
(big grin) I can't promise that you'll see turtles when going to a natural area. Nature is kind of inconsistent that way...that's why I look for any good photo chance when making an excursion and just enjoy the journey rather than the destination.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 22:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Haha...yes of course. I'll enjoy myself regardless. As of right now though, I don't see much need for more pictures of painted turtles. As for your trees, I'll see what they look like and hopefully will be able find some.--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 23:33, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 20:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much. :)

Question

Why did you shut down my wikipedia account by claming it was a sock puppet and you gave me no opportunity to respond or even do a check user?? That seems really lame, dude. That is a gross abuse of authority. Copyright Troll (talk) 07:51, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, your response helps confirm that you were socking. Usually when one jumps to the old "admin abuse" tact, you would have to actually know what that means and I don't think that an account as young as yours would be as acquainted with our internal workings enough to make the statements above. For clarity, I'm not the one who claimed you were a sockpuppet...I'm the one who judged your case and found you to be one and then blocked you. You can file an unblock request on en.wiki making your appeal and a different admin(s) will review.

ArchiveBot

Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1. HJMitchell isn't a Checkuser

Not sure how much you check here but I noticed your comment on HJ's talk page at ENWP and wanted to let you know he isn't a Checkuser, he is an Oversighter so there isn't much he can do to check that. Reguyla (talk) 17:18, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Photo Number 7443491 Benjamin Grierson & Staff

I believe the caption is incorrect. The gentleman seated with hand on chin is - I believe - Col Reuben Loomis, who succeeded Grierson as CO of 7th Ill. on Griersons appointment as Brigade Commander. Grierson is seated on the right of the picture.— Preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.104.118.42 (talk) 13:46, 14 September 2015‎ (UTC)

Here is the source. I suppose that it could be wrong but after looking at images of both men, I can't see anything definitive. Do you have a link to good images for comparison?

Block

You have blocked me for alleged long term abuse. Can you please explain? Rjp123 (talk) 23:21, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

No, you can explain to me.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► 13:25, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

Cheers - a block citing long term abuse without any examples. Very helpful stuff Rjp123 (talk) 01:03, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

I still don't know what you are talking about since you haven't shown anything here. Your account is not blocked.
