Thanks for uploading Image:MiG-29 3-view.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Could you check my translation? edit

I see that you're a native speaker of Polish; could you check my translation of the title of Image:Buchbinder-Rabbi Praying.jpg? There's a link to the page I got the image from. I used an online translation engine, which can be somewhat unreliable. Thanks for your time! grendel|khan 18:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have put some pictures I have drawn myself to be deleted. (Leuckart-Wallach-1/2/3.png) How do I get them of this list and how do I prevent new pictures to get on this list concerning the copyright policies? Regards 84.171.221.146DrTW84.171.221.146 Dutch wikipedia

Be careful when changing diagrams, as you didn't update the labels when you changed the numbering. ed g2stalk 17:03, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's strange. I was sure I've changed description while I was uploading new file... Thank you for your note and fix. --Leafnode 21:19, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:120px-Astronaut-EVA.jpg edit

You marked this image for deletion because it is a duplicate. As it says in the description of the image, I know it is a duplicate but it is needed for the Public Domain Astronaut Award : Wikipedia:Personal_user_awards

I have not found any way to award the award with the larger size image. Therefore, this size is needed. If you know how to award it with the larger size image, please let me know on my talk page.

I am removing the notice to delete it. If you find a way to award the Public Domain Astronaut Award without it, please let me know and then you can mark it again for deletion.

The normal commands to reduce the size of an image |100px| and others did not work on this image for reasons unknown to me. So before you delete this, please make sure that the method you tell me to use on my Talk page actually works.

Thank you. Fanra 15:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Sometimes thumbnail generation is broken, but you can try to re-upload image which has problems with thumbnails. Uploading duplicate, resized images to commons is not a solution. --Leafnode 06:11, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
  • I can't re-upload the original image since I didn't upload it in the first place. Looking back, I now realize I should have uploaded the thumbnail to wikipedia rather than Wikimedia Commons. If there is a way to move it to wikipedia and remove it from wikimedia commons, please do so. The other thing I can do is to modify the thumbnail slightly, perhaps add the words, "Public Domain Astronaut Award" in fancy lettering and then upload it to wikipedia for use in the award. Please let me know what you think I should do since I'm trying to learn and follow proper procedures. Thank you. Fanra 17:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yellow Admiral (Vanessa itea).jpg edit

Hi, regarding your comments at Featured pictures candidates on Commons:Featured_picture_candidates/Image:Yellow_Admiral_(Vanessa_itea).jpg, I have posted an alternative crop that minimises the visibility of the hand it is on, does this address your reservations? Thanks :-) --Tony Wills 11:06, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, how can I do that? The image is cropped from another one, I don't know what copyright statement I could place there. Could you help? Machocarioca 19:37, 25 April 2007 (UTC)MachocariocaReply

I did something out there, is it right now? Machocarioca 19:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)MachocariocaReply

Sofia_Kalistratova edit

Hi, Leafnode.
I got few pics from my friends, who publisede the book about Sofia Kallistratova.
I used the same tag, as in engllish version of Wikipedia, expecting compatibility.
The pictures are expected to be used in English, Russian, and, perhaps, Japanese and Spanish versions of Wiki.
I have few questions.
Is wikimedia always preferable place to upload the pic, if I suspect that the same pic will be ised in more than one language versions?
May I use the same tag {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvided|you do not modify it and indicate the source}}, or you can suggest something more sutable?
Who is Bobby Henderson? (This name appears in the Russian version). Domitori 10:52, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Titicus Reservoir pic edit

I saw your comment opposing the Quality Image nom for Image:Titicus Reservoir 5.jpg. I'm not complaining about it even though it was rather harsh, because you were right (although I will say, regarding the perceived crookedness that has been noted, the far side of the reservoir curves from that angle, so it isn't even).

I fully expected this sort of criticism if someone looked at it at full mag. As much as I like the composition and color in the image, things like noise cleanup are something I'm not really well-versed in (You see how sharpened the first version was ... I have tried to offset that by (in the .PSD the new image was saved from) putting a blur layer in).

Have you any suggestions for specifics as to how I could remove the noise (in Photoshop CS2)? I suppose I could just the "reduce noise" tool, but I always feel that there might be something I'd be missing. I generally take most of my pictures with an eye to how well they'll illustrate the articles in question, but I really like that one and want to see if it could be worthy of recognition, edited the right way.

Feel free to leave your reply on my talk page here on Commons ... I am now here more than enough. Daniel Case 19:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, that other picture isn't the original ... I had reduced it because it was originally uploaded to the English Wikipedia and I had felt it necessary to conserve server space (not a problem here). The real original (I can email it to you if you'd like to see what you might be able to do with it) is the same size. The image we're discussing is a different, start-from scratch edit of that original.

I agree with your comments about the color ... I do so wish I could have reproduced the exact steps I took in color-correcting that first one. I've not quite gotten the same shade of blue in any edit since (Of course, there's an easy solution, I suppose — add that as a layer and mask everything but the sky. But that might create other noise issues).

It's within my ability to take it again, but it's some distance away and, more importantly, I'd have to wait for a similar day in early June (it was cool and not at all humid, something you take advantage of when you have a camera and are passing a lot of things we need images of). I doubt I could reproduce that cloud formation over the reservoir, that gap in one area almost the exact same shape and size as the point underneath it, nor the ducks in the front.
