editI'm investigating the copyright status of some recently uploaded images (Image:Mineraly.sk - granit.jpg). Could you read the copyright info from here: http://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Zdroje/mineraly and tell me if it permits third party use. Unfortunately my Slovak isn't great! Many thanks in advance. ed g2s • talk 23:47, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, the email reads:
Good morning, I value your offer very much, if I find time I certainly will write some articles. Of course you can use materials from our web, it would be nice if you would cite the source. All the best Rastislav Sabucha
The Wikimedia logo is not GFDL, it is copyright by Wikimedia. The photo of John Paul II is fair use; hence the screenshot can not be GFDL. Uploaded a new screenshot. --Palica 07:57, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
About Image:Evince 0.3.1 sk.jpg; Microsoft Word is protected by copyright. WikiCommons do not allow screenshots of computer programs not licensed under an open license (GFDL etc). Thuresson 04:05, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Firefox is a screenshots of sk.wikipedia website. So change the license to whatever. Evince is an opensource program that displays .pdf and .ps the window title saying "Microsoft Word - ..." just tells that the pdf was created from a .doc file but that doesn't mean this picture is of ms word. --Palica 17:40, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
- And just a note to Thuresson - next time you delete some of my images, I would much appreciate that you drop me a note. Thank you in advance :) --Palica 08:00, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry. The GFDL logo is copyright by the Wikimedia Foundation. The portrait of the pope is "fair use" and WikiCommons do not allow fair use photos. Thuresson 09:27, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
- No problem, is the new screenshot (firefox same name) ok? --Palica 11:18, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
Video stabilization
editI have produced a version of Image:A_wasp_eating_a_fly_DSCN2740.ogg which is motion stabilized, please take a look at Image:A_wasp_eating_a_fly_DSCN2740_stable.ogg. Your video was just the first one I picked at random, it turns out it was a good choice because it has a fair amout of motion. Do you like the change? There is some quality loss because I am reencoding the compressed content, but overall I think it is an improvement. If you like the result, I would really like a copy of the highest resolution orignal you have so that I could stabilize it before transcoding to theora. The more stable video is easier for the compressor, so the result should look even better. I'm looking forward to your comments. --Gmaxwell 08:03, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
- Like it very much. Check out my user page, there are some ways how to contact me, if you don't mind. I will try to find the original somewhere :) --Palica 01:18, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Bsod_win311.jpg
editThis media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Bsod_win311.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
