Minor edit to your page

I took the notification boxes off your talk page, because - as part of that sequence of edits already discussed and agreed upon - the big ugly boxes did not need to stay here. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:13, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

And ditto with *the rest*, so sorry, it's just a process. Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:14, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
@Ellin Beltz: You rock! Thank you for all your help. --WPPilot (talk) 17:22, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Heya Don

Thinking of you too!! Did you block your "email user" setting? Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:30, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Calm down

I can't comment on everything right now, but first of all, Jeff G. is just as much of an admin as I am: he's not. I don't know what issues you had with Jeff G. but it looks like there is just some misunderstanding here.

"now he has removed: "Category:Photographers from the United States" from my page, as over categorized. Considering the volume, scope and depth of my contributions I feel that being included in "Category:Photographers from the United States" is reasonable"

When a photo (or in this case a category) is categorized as "red balls", we no longer categorize that item in "red things" and "balls" because "red balls" is already a subcategory of both. Category:D Ramey Logan is categorized Category:Aviation photographers from the United States which is categorized as Category:Photographers from the United States. If you feel that aviation doesn't cover it, you can add other categories like Category:Male photographers from the United States and something from Category:Photographers from the United States by state. And Category:Photographers from the United States has more. This was no attack from Jeff G., this is common practice on Commons.

As for you having your own category, I personally have no problem with it. But I don't know what common practice is in that area. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 01:41, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

@Alexis Jazz: ::Ok thank you for chiming in. The Aviation is too narrow, but it does cover my work. I started contributing Aerial Photography long before people with Drone's came out. I looked in Photographers from the United States and did not see my name, so I added it.

I don't know what it was that set off Jeff, and now this new Admin off, it is strange to me. Most of the more prolific photographers here have there own Cat. I was told I could not do something, (require notification if used as a cover page) I went to remove it, and could not. SIC I told the person to just delete the picture, I was dealing with the loss of a close friend and did not want to deal with it, and that was the start of this mess. It seems to just get worse and worse.. It just make me sick every time I edit on here anymore... --Don (talk) 01:50, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

To add to what @Alexis Jazz wrote correctly, I did not block you, @Jcb did that. You uploaded File:Montauk Harbor Entrance by Don Ramey Logan.jpg with a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license and watermarked writing including a date of 6 May early in the morning on 7 May. I thought it would be a nicer photo for article en:Montauk, New York without all your writing on it, so in the evening on 7 May I asked for a retouched version without that writing, and @PawełMM obliged with File:Montauk Harbor Entrance by Don Ramey Logan (retouched).jpg, since renamed File:Montauk Harbor Entrance by Don Ramey Logan (unretouched).jpg by @مصعب, with full attribution. I added the resulting photo to article en:Montauk, New York. I'm sorry I didn't ask you for the original, but I took your word for it that you had retired on 6 May, silly me. We were all within our rights to do what we did, except you. You should not have removed a warning after clear instruction to not remove that warning. You should not have made attribution demands beyond license-compliant requests. You are the one who made File:Montauk Harbor Entrance by Don Ramey Logan.jpg look bad by writing on it. Finally, you should not accuse people of doing things "out of spite, and with malice"[1] without expecting consequences.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 01:58, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

@Jeff G.: , I have never done anything out of Spite, I followed your lead. Regarding Montauk I was pleased, but the removal did look hookie. This is why I went ahead and uploaded the proper photo, so that we both had done something together. I am sorry about any misunderstanding as described by Alexis Jazz but the main Photographers of the US cat did not have my name. I am retired from contributing. Uploading a pic to place on my talk page with my sig was a way of signing off, till I saw the poorly edited version of my photo on display on the Montauk page. I really was flattered but when I looked it it felt it would be best to load the original. My montra here has been "To Always Improve" Nothing more nothing less. I am sorry we crossed paths. I felt I had a honest issue, but as Alexis explained above it was a non issue --Don (talk) 02:08, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

@Alexis Jazz has not identified with a gender here, but then neither have you (although both of you are welcome to). Alexis is generally a female name in the US, but male in Europe.  — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 02:28, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

That users reply above was "you can add other categories like Category:Male photographers from the United States" and you can look at my picture in the user template to see clearly I am male never the less, I changed that too.

License issues

I had not seen User:WPPilot/Credits before. I pointed out some issues on User talk:WPPilot/Credits.

I can edit the page for you to make it more clear and in line with the license. You should probably let me do that. But if you don't want it, I won't. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Jcb nominates every single picture you have uploaded for deletion because of license doubts casted by that credit page. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 20:26, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

I got you ack on my talk page. I can also patch up the file pages for the attribution you prefer, I take it from your reply that won't be an issue either.
You may not be the only user who this projects ends up losing. I haven't decided yet, but I'll handle this first anyway. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 20:36, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

Warning

The Commons has an expectation that editors assume good faith (COM:AGF) and a policy of blocking editors whose behaviour "has the potential to damage Commons or disrupt its collegial atmosphere." (COM:BLOCK) Regardless of who is "correct," your recent comments are inappropriate and out-of-line with our expectations of civility; for example:

  • "What is the problem or are you just doing this to be obnoxious?" [2]
  • "Clearly this has become a personal vendetta" [3]
  • "IMHO your (sic) intentionally trying to cause harm to me and my work." [4]
  • "This is nothing more then Bullying [...]" [5]
  • "I find myself in a 'battle' with a series of 'haters' that are dead set on removing my efforts and threatening me on a non stop regular basis." [6]

I understand the expectation of civility is not news to you. Please dispense with the battleground mentality and conduct yourself collegially. Эlcobbola talk 21:13, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
