- Info The Golden Gate Bridge partially covered in fog. While the north tower is bathed in evening light, the south tower is almost completely shrouded. Created, uploaded and renominated by -- Radomianin (talk) 00:00, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment This photo I have unsuccessfully nominated on September 25, 2021, but would like to try it again, because I think it is FP-worthy, despite the narrow rejection with 7 out of 11 votes. It deserves a second chance. One of the main counterarguments was that there are already too many FPs of the Golden Gate Bridge. But there is no FP in which one tower is completely shrouded in fog and the other is in sunshine. Another counterargument was that the fog is disturbing for the eyes of the viewer. But it is exactly this negative energy that makes the picture fascinating. On the left the usual imposing side in the light and on the right the dark, shrouded side — as if it were being devoured by a demon. If you deal with the Golden Gate Bridge, you cannot avoid its immeasurably sad side, the fates of the many suicides. When I took the photo that day, I couldn't help but think of this tragedy, why its beauty attracts so many desperate souls. I think the photo symbolizes the ambivalence of beauty and sadness of this bridge.
The bridge has fascinated me even as a young man as one of the strongest symbols of freedom in the United States. Its Art deco design is timeless, and visiting it was an unattainable dream from an early age because I grew up in the former East Germany. When I was able to visit it in 2019, this dream came true. -- Radomianin (talk) 00:00, 23 November 2021 (UTC) - Support -- Radomianin (talk) 00:00, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose I'd refer everyone to my previous statement in opposition to a feature, and I also criticize you for renominating a photo that lost 11-7-1 less than two months ago, because I don't think it will produce a different result (11-7-1 is not a close loss, despite your characterization of it), nor that it is a good use of anyone's time. Why don't you look for another photo to nominate - if not one of yours, one by another photographer? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:03, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you sincerely for your criticism and also for the advice on nominating other photos, Ikan. Because I find this picture so special, I wanted to try it again. Unfortunately, I could not find any rules on Commons about the period after which a photo may be nominated again. If I have made a rule violation I apologize very much. In this case I would withdraw the nomination immediately. Many regards :) -- Radomianin (talk) 08:18, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- You haven't violated any rule, it's just unusual for a renomination with no change to the photo to succeed 2 months after losing. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:41, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps the guidelines should be changed. Charlesjsharp (talk) 11:01, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- We've discussed that before, and the consensus has been that voting takes care of that. And it does. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:53, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose While I like this specific view, I don't see anything special in this capture. --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 05:09, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Support Repeating my previous statement, we have got quite some FPs of the Golden Gate Bridge, about four of them with fog, but none of them offers (as this one does) the impression that the bridge seems to lead right from sunshine into the dark clouds; so this photograph is special for me. --Aristeas (talk) 09:10, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per Ikan, and agree with Ikan on swift renomination. -- Colin (talk) 16:07, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

- Support I supported the previous nomination, and I do it here. I agree with Aristeas' interpretation and also with the nominator's thoughts on the tragic side of the Golden Gate Bridge, which sadly I had to witness some years ago. --Palauenc05 (talk) 18:09, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose I voted for the first nomination with Pro. But I am against allowing unchanged images to come back for a second nomination. Where would we be if declined candidates come again and again. --Milseburg (talk) 11:26, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per my !vote the first time around. Daniel Case (talk) 04:24, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- Support I understand the argument about there being a large amount of FP's of the Golden Gate Bridge, but this photograph is simply stunning, and insanely hard to capture. The chance of this happening I would guess is quite rare, along with the great lighting. I see a lot of merit to this photo, and differentiation from the other photos, to support this. -- Lectrician2 (talk) 01:18, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Question Do you think fog over the bridge is unusual, or are you referring to some other aspect of the photo? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:24, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
