- Support The most adorable photo I have seen so far among the entries for Wiki Loves Folklore 2023. The file size is unfortunately not very big, but we wouldn’t really gain anything by a higher resolution. It is the composition and the harmonious colours that make this picture so enchanting. --Aristeas (talk) 07:19, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

heartbroken opposeugh, I'm really torn here. This is without doubt one of the most pleasing shots I've seen here for a while, but 2.6 Mpx from a 36 Mpx sensor dos not really align well with our "best of the best" approach. But let's not get hung up on numbers. What matter is what it does to the image, and that's where I disagree with Aristeas above: There is a lot of fine detail in this scene and I think the image currently doesn't really do that justice when viewed as a whole image at screen size. Zoomed in to 1:1, it looks quite mushy despite all the downscaling. That lens on that camera under that kind of light should be capable of so much more, and with some clever processing before the downscaling I think it should be possible to produce a super crisp image ... or am I missing something here? --El Grafo (talk) 08:11, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Comment Well, I would not call the picture mushy, not even at 1:1. The brush-like structure of the incense bundles poses the risk that sharpening very quickly leads to zigzag structures and an artificial impression. Therefore, it may have been wise for the photographer to forgo additional sharpening during the downscaling. --Aristeas (talk) 08:51, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- I don't know, maybe my expectations are unreasonable. Could be that my internal calibration is off, I haven't done much editing myself lately. Everyone feel free to disagree, please! El Grafo (talk) 09:00, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- IMO El Grafo is quite right. Otherwise a great shot. Yann (talk) 09:54, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t know what are you taking about. Do you prefer resolution of an image over other techniques as well as its story?
- I uploaded a 2048px 72dpi resized image which I usually use for my social networks, not any high technique here. Vietsui (talk) 10:13, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- This is an amazing image, if you have a better resolution, we would highly welcome you upload this, so it can not only be used online, but also for example for printing the image on a large poster. Kritzolina (talk) 15:03, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Sure. How to replace this one by a hi-res version? Vietsui (talk) 16:47, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Vietsui: On the file page, under the "File history" tab (or whatever the equivalent is in your display language) there should be a link; in English it says "Upload a new version of this file". Or you can just upload it as a new image with a different file name e.g. "Incense in Vietnam hi-res.jpg". BigDom (talk) 17:02, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I've just uploaded a new version with more than 7000 pixels and 31,2 MB. Vietsui (talk) 17:23, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

- @El GrafoI changed the photo to hi-res version. Would you change your mind to support it? Vietsui (talk) 06:50, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Absolutely! Support now, thanks a lot. --El Grafo (talk) 11:58, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

- Qualified support Yes, I too wish the image were sharper—a lot sharper—in the corners. But this is one of those images striking and unique enough to offset that shortcoming. This is, again, to me, something you'd expect to see, and remember, in an issue of National Geographic. Daniel Case (talk) 18:20, 27 May 2023 (UTC)

- Where was this photo taken. I'm assuming Quang Phu Cau. -- PalauanLibertarian (talk) 22:41, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, it was taken in Quang Phu Cau village, on the outskirts of Hanoi, Vietnam. Vietsui (talk) 06:47, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
