V. p. 826. n° 149, gives the following description) : « A herd of seven Cows, grouped together, on a bank, in theforeground of a landscape. Six of them are lying down, and theseventh, of a black and white colour, stands in a profile view, look-ing towards the left. A herdsman, with a stick in his hand, sitson the declivity of the bank, with his back to the spectator. Thedistant country is intersected by a river, near which are a houseand a mill. She is reading a book, which sheholds in her hands. Panel, 10 1/2 in. by 8 1/2 in. From Dr Le Roy dEtiolles Collection. DOV (Gerard)(1613-1675) 8. — Rembrandt in his Studio Seated on the left, on a low seat which is covered with a greenish-grey cloth; turned to the right; three-quarter face, with eyestowards the spectator. A blue beret on his head, pushed back.Dressed in a brown-grey, loose garment, which is fastened aroundthe waist with a variegated sash. The border of his shirt visiblearound the neck.
