Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Please give images better names
edit
I noticed you've uploaded Image:441162145 0e6a50760d.jpg and I thought I should turn your attention to a common error.
Please give uploaded images meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the image is about without actually looking at it. I suggest you rename your image with an intuitive name that describes the image itself. Thanks, and happy editing! MECU≈talk 13:43, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Flickr images
editHi. I was patrolling images tagged as needing a flickr review when I noticed Image:576323602 7d57642ff4.jpg and Image:652933185 61cc5885e7 o.jpg. Because they are small web-resolution images, they are very suspicious. Many flickr users incorrectly try to "license" somebody else's photos. Can you clarify who is depicted in these photos? Does she have an official website where it would be possible to check to see that this flickr user didn't merely download the photos off of some website? Thanks. --BigDT 22:41, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Fotos Simone
- It's not a Wikipedia rule. Actually it's not quite a rule, but when a user has received multiple warnings about images, deleting them is regarded as an act of bad faith, as in the user trying to hide he/she has been warned before. In reality, it doesn't really matter because one can check the page's history. By the way, why can't we write in our common native language? PatríciaR msg 17:04, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Removing warnings
editPlease note that removal of current warnings is not something that is appreciated on Commons or other Wikis. I have blocked users who remove such warnings. I certainly always revert such removals and will blocks someone who continues to ignore warnings. Many users do have warnings on their pages and are content to leave them there for a reasonable period at the very least - thanks --Herby talk thyme 18:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- My message was in English. If you don't that such removals are against policy I will leave you this warning from the templates available. --Herby talk thyme 18:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Your message required no reply in my mind - equally I had gone off line for a period and will not be back on again for some hours now. I am speaking in English and if you do not remove warnings I shall be content --Herby talk thyme 19:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
