File:EBA Logo.jpg edit

File:EBA Logo.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: Self-generated logo using elements of a trademarked logo (except text) of England Rugby likely also copyrighted due to complexity and being created a few years ago. No evidence provided of free licence, or direct image source of logo.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Ah thanks. I figured the logo used on balls officially by the IBB and both WBU and EBA features exactly the same logo and in my naivety assumed the logo was not copyrighted for them to have used it. AngelsAndOwls (talk) 15:43, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you're referring to this image, yep they are both a rose, but the design you used was specifically the design made for England Rugby, rather than a personal drawing of a rose. It is also not exactly good practice to generate logos for organisations if they themselves do not make one easily visible or even have one. You're making an unofficial logo, and at least be paid!   If englishbaseball.weebly is the website, I cannot find an official logo to use, if one can be found from an official source it can be uploaded non-free to Wikipedia (not Commons) unless it is overly simplistic (i.e. just text).

Good points all round. Will remove it. AngelsAndOwls (talk) 16:06, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@AngelsAndOwls, like as File:Wales Vs England Baseball International ball.jpg is the only one I can find using a logo, and it is freely licensed, may be just having that image somewhere in the articles is fine. Ofc, I'll keep a look out if an official logo appears, but considering the Welsh twitter account uses the baseball image, maybe that is literally the only example.
