Here's how you can help edit

Calvinkulit, As Srittau said, I believe you are really here to help and we need all the help we can get on Commons. You just don't know how to help and jumping to complicated areas, that's all. Here's how you can help.

  • Do you know any other languages? If so you can help out by translating pages!
  • We have a bunch of images without categories, start helping out by adding appropriate categories! See Category:Media_needing_categories for a list of files that needs categories.
  • Could you identify appropriate categories for an image? We need a hand for files in Category:Media_needing_category_review.
  • Could you identify files's subject and choose better file names? If so, Category:Files_that_likely_originated_from_WhatsApp_with_bad_file_names lists some files from WhatsApp with bad names, you can use the RenameLink gadget and ask FileMovers to rename those files. But please, read COM:FR first as this may be slightly hard area for you. Most of the files in there need renaming per Criteria 2 though.
I wish I could show you more ways of helping. But I guess that's all I can think of for now. If you need help, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and to COM:HD. Warm regards, Masum Reza📞 07:01, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I can do that. Calvinkulittc 07:06, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
And also please don't ask for any other rights for now. Rights are just tools to maintain and improve Commons. Don't worry, someone else will ask rights for you if they think you are ready. Masum Reza📞 07:13, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks! edit

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!
