edit

Hi Godot13, I've added {{user category|Godot13}} to your own categories, as they are so-called user categories, which are considered as service categories and should not be mixed with the "regular" categories. As user categories are "hidden" per default, you might change your account setting (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering) to also show hidden categories. --Túrelio (talk) 21:42, 22 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will adhere to this going forward. --Godot13 (talk) 21:51, 22 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given

edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 23:58, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

VIC closure

edit

Hello Godot13,
Thank you for closing VICs! A step is missing however: to complete the closure, the status parameter must be changed. Three possibilities: status=promoted, status=undecided or status=declined, depending on the vote result (more detailed explanation here). Thank you again,
Kind regards, --Myrabella (talk) 00:24, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing that out, I understand. - Godot13 (talk) 04:05, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

scale rulers in images

edit

Hi Andrew!

1) In the MS Paint you must create a new picture.
2) Set picture options/width in pixels (could be calculated for yours illustration).
3) Use line tool, set line width and draw a line. Also, as a other way, you can use "draw a bar" tool.
4) Add a vertical edges for ruler with "pencil" tool and 400% scale view.
5) Open yours photo in Adobe Photoshop.
6) Select and copy picture in MS Paint.
7) Paste this in Photoshop document as new layer.
8) In layer with ruler use "magic Wang" tool, select and clear background.
9) Add a scale text for the ruler.
10) Done. Save result as .jpg

Excellent. much easier although have limitation.....Sorry, you know how I correct lens flare in image (photpshop C6) ?. --Rjcastillo (talk) 02:50, 18 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I use CS5: Open the Photoshop Bridge (Br), find the image, right-click and "Open in Camera Raw" I use the spot removal tool (top menu bar) and carefully take out the flare. It works best if the flare is against a solid color or the sky. Otherwise, I'm sorry, I don't know other methods. - Godot13 (talk) 02:55, 18 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Godot13, old version is better imho. remove a bit the bright light (See note) --Rjcastillo (talk) 14:06, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your S.A. schoolboy in VI

edit
Dear Godot13, I'm really sorry.
Please, be sure there is nothing personal in my opposition vote.
I think actually that this picture is not typical enough. Again, it could have been taken out of a school in Paris, or anywhere else.
This boy is very cute, and I love his smile, but in my opinion, he does not "fit" with the scope.
I hope you will not be angry against me, I just try to be fair in the expression of my opinion.
Thanks (I find your banknotes very interesting, joined together they could make a very nice poster).--Jebulon (talk) 16:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't take any of this personally. But I will keep trying to figure out what does fit this scope ;-) --Godot13 (talk) 16:20, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Godot13, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Hi Godot13,

you're welcome, the Jaffa clock tower seemed to be a tought subject and your picture is pretty good otherwise, so I tried to give more space with Photoshop. It's not that difficult, I just extend the canvas and apply some cloning tool to give a bonus sky.

US fractional currency, your message

edit

Hi Godot13, thanks for message.

As a "Commons" addict and fundamentalist ( , I strongly disagree with the existence of "Featured picture contests" in any language wikipedias, even if some of my pictures were distinguished in the english, turkish or german one (I was not aware of these nominations). Fortunately, this does not exist in the french wikipedia !...

I think it is confusing, useless, and furthermore I almost never go to the en:wp, as I have a "loggin" problem (only here, I don't know how to solve it). Thus, I'm sorry, but I should not vote there.

Anyway, your set is so exceptional and wonderful (even only "visually"), that I'm sure it will be promoted without my help. And it deserves this new star.

I wish you a good luck for this nomination, expecting new extraordinary pictures from yours.

Hi:

I see your beautiful works here and in EN; but a bit confused about the quality of them as produced by your camera (Leaf Aptus-II 12?). What is your opinion about that camera compared to full frame DSLR? Just curious. JKadavoor Jee 06:26, 29 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for asking. I don't own the camera but have rented it twice now for trips. The actual camera body used is a medium format 645 Phase One/Mamiya SLR. Leaf Medium Format (a subsidiary of Phase One/Mamiya) makes the Aptus-II 12. The whole set-up is a bit bulky, fairly heavy, and requires more thought and time per shot (than, say, my Nikon D4), and traveling with all associated stuff is a headache. But, when you "nail" a shot, you really nail the shot. The raw MOS files are between 50-90MB, and the resulting tiff files could wind up being 300MB+ I hope this answers your question.-Godot13 (talk) 22:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Jaffa minaret

Hi Godot13,

Thanks for sharing so nice images with us, and very interesting numismatic items (are you interested only by american's ?)

I was to support this image by you in FPC page, but There is a part which seems overexposed to me. Could you please give me your opinion, as I've annotated it ?

Thanks in advance.--Jebulon (talk) 15:58, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jebulon-
Thanks for having a look around ;-) My numismatic focus is American, but having access to the Smithsonian collection, I could potentially scan other countries as well. Anything you might be interested in for my next trip there?
I have (I believe) fixed the overexposed section of the minaret you pointed out. I am thinking of taking another shot at the complete fraction set for English Wikipedia FP, it seems very unfortunate to try getting the images featured a few at a time when they are a very rare complete set. Anyway, many thanks-Godot13 (talk) 19:03, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
