Kichenhouse Showroom.jpg edit

Although Kichenhouse Showroom.jpg was pointed out that it infringes copyright, it was deleted. I think that this is a thing that I shot myself, so I do not believe it infringes the copyright right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katsu-k (talk • contribs) 15:59, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Katsu-k: Hi Katsu-k! Wikimedia Commons policies say that you should provide proof that you took the image yourself if it was posted to another website. I suggest you send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org explaining that you took the image yourself before re-uploading. Thank you, hiàn 20:48, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Paz satellite SpaceX.jpg license added edit

I just added a note (including three links) about the license of the image under the permission section. SpaceX images are published under public domain, as can be obtained from two Tweets by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk as well as the media galery on their website. WolreChris (talk) 22:20, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

So sorry for the mixup. I assumed the file was a copyright violation since there wasn't a clear link; obvious slipup on my part. Apologies for any inconvenience. hiàn 23:01, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2018 edit

Hi: Thanks for your contribution to Shanghai-by-month categories! Since there are a lot of files are traffic-related, now I am planning to specify them to the subcategories of XMonth in transport in Shanghai and XMonth in rail transport in Shanghai like what Beijing does. Most of Shanghai-transport related files are categorized in the category Xmonth in rail transport in China. I believe there will be sufficient files in all categories, your help and support will be highly appreciated if you would like to do so! MNXANL (talk) 21:29, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@MNXANL: Of course I'd be willing to help! Once you are ready, leave another message here. hiàn 21:38, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have started this just now. Maybe you can subcategorize them from Shanghai-by-month categories and I can do it through rail-in-China-by-Month categories to make it easier for either you and me. MNXANL (talk) 21:54, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Plus, I am starting from the most present categories. Maybe you can start from earlier cats to avoid conflicts.

Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Yeye Eni edit

Thanks. The script that deletes can "fall over" when there are a lot of files being deleted. Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:11, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Always fine. That's understandable. hiàn 17:59, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

“Missing permission” edit

Hello.
Please, don’t place {{Npd}}/{{No permission since}} on images which are declared as Own work and are plausibly so. For details refer to Commons:Village pump/Proposals/Archive/2017/04 #No permission and no source tags, especially find Nyttend’s posting from 03:10, 12 April 2017 (UTC) there.Reply

If you wary about personality issues, then place {{Personality rights}} and let other Commoners decide. If you doubt authorship (but without a direct evidence against {{Own}}), then submit a regular deletion request; preferably to bundle related cases into a mass deletion. If you have an explicit evidence against the authorship claim, then apply {{Copyvio}}. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 08:06, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Will keep in mind for the future. Hiàn // talk 21:13, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Taken with" categories edit

I see that you and others have put pictures into such categories, including my File:Maya with Sherry at Newark Museum jeh.jpg. Yes, it is true I used that camera for more than a thousand pictures, and probably other contributors have sent many more. However, I do not understand why this question is important. Jim.henderson (talk) 19:17, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Jim.henderson: Indeed it does seem like a useless task but I presume it is the same reason we add many other hidden categories, those being mainly for tracking purposes. Hiàn (talk) 20:30, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Support Good quality & interesting. Do you know what are the squares under the water? If so, I'd be great to add it to description --Podzemnik 23:26, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I believe they don't serve any particular purpose, other than drainage. Some of them, I believe, are the planters for aquatic plants - they appear during the summer. I have added that to the description. --Hiàn 23:46, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Chrono categories edit

Hello,

Please see the guideline paragraph at the top of the chronological categories of the sort "[month] [year] in Canada" such as Category:June 2018 in Canada, i.e.: "[...] this allows one to browse any Canada-related category by year or month. Images should be placed directly in this category [...]".

With that Cat-a-lot group of edits, I meant to move the files to Category:44th G7 summit from Category:June 2018 in Canada as the former is more precise. The files were already in the former category and as such, the files were removed from June 2018 in Canada. There are more precise subcategories that the files should be in when possible, though I'm sure you know that :) Hiàn (talk) 23:07, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hiàn, note that this is not an appropriate category for your uploads. -- Ies (talk) 15:10, 24 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ies: Resolved, thanks. Hiàn (talk) 02:02, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hiàn, this image like many more is over-categorized. And the main aspect namely Cucumis metuliferus is not categorized. Please check. I really wish your motto were "quality instead of quantity". -- Ies (talk) 15:01, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your upload probs edit

Hi Hiàn, I just noticed that you are flooding the log. The reason is: If the text of a file page to be uploaded contains shortened URLs like youtu.be, flic.kr or goo.gl the upload is blocked automatically here on Commons. If possible you should use the full (expanded) URLs instead. Best, --Achim (talk) 15:49, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry, oversight on my part. I won't be uploading from those places. Apologies once again. Hiàn (talk) 00:40, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

uploading duplicates edit

Hi, you recently uploading very lots of duplicate images - see i.e. here. Even every file I checked you uploaded in the past few minutes are duplicates. Please stop this and take more care about which file(sets) you mass transfering from flickr and which not. Thx. --JuTa 23:39, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @JuTa: . I will be more careful and will clean up the files in question. Thank you for raising this issue up. Hiàn (talk) 23:56, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm seeing duplicates right now too. --Elisfkc (talk) 02:17, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Here some recent examples:

These were 7 of 10 files from the bottom from here I just processed as duplicates. I guess you creating +80% of any recent duplicates. Again: Please be more carefull. Thx. --JuTa 06:40, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello again @JuTa: , right after my reply to your message, I found that there isn't enough technology implemented in Flickr2Commons to detect duplicates and as such duplicate batches like this are bound to happen. For future batches, however, I will be checking if the batch was already uploaded by another user, though I cannot make any guarantees for checking all applicable files. Cheers, Hiàn (talk/editing on mobile account) 13:47, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Here other recent expamples from today or yesterday, which were allready uploaded twice:

--JuTa 17:05, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Interesting. It used to have something to check for that. I'll submit a bug report so Magnus Manske can look into this. --Elisfkc (talk) 14:59, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi Hiàn, all I hope that you don't create hundreds or perhaps thousends of dupes a day. I'm busy to reduce the dupe-backlog since months. I allready reduced them from about 5000 to under 3000 until you and User:OceanAtoll (who is blocked globaly inbetween) started mass frickr transfered. The number raised very quickly to over 5000 since then. And I dont know how many over 5000 we still have. regards --JuTa 14:57, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hiàn, please stop your mass uploads right now and try to fix your duplicates filter. You are actually producing tons of duplicates, e.g. in Category:Photographs by Virginia State Parks: [1] Not to mention that you set up a new redundant category name for this Flickr stream when we already had Category:Photographs by Virginia State Parks. I also deleted a number of dupes from the US Navy and other sources. So I'm afraid but these mass uploads are currently causing more work and trouble than useful images. De728631 (talk) 19:27, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@De728631: Hi, I'm currently away from my computer and will be for the rest of the weekend and as such I cannot look over the recently uploaded batches. Rest assured, I will as soon as I can. Until then, please block my alternate account for an indefinite amount of time as I intend to focus on cleaning up all files uploaded under that account instead of uploading (please turn off autoblock). Apologies to you and any other users I have caused inconvenience to. Hiàn (talk/editing on mobile account) 20:22, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I have blocked your alt account. Thank you for cooperating, I appreciate this. When you have fixed the issues and you're ready for another upload session just let me know so I can unblock the alt. De728631 (talk) 21:12, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

COM:OVERCAT edit

Hello, when adding a file to a category such as Category:Park images uploaded by Hiàn, you should remove it from Category:Images uploaded by Hiàn. Generally, a file should only appear once in a single branch of the category tree. Guanaco (talk) 05:37, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Guanaco. Thank you for telling me, I will remove categories as needed. On a side note, the park images category I have been working on lately (a bit of a workspace) and I won't be using it in the future anyways. Hiàn (talk) 13:31, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
On a second look, you seem to have done quite a bit of work on that, so thank you for that as well. Hiàn (talk) 13:57, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. I'll go ahead and finish processing the rest of your images. It isn't a difficult task with AWB, but it's better to avoid the overcategorization in the first place if possible. Guanaco (talk) 21:15, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Done I finished removing the category from the subcategorized ones. Guanaco (talk) 13:51, 30 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
