As a long time leader of one of the most important nations on earth, there is much encyclopaedic and/or educational use for the photos which I am uploading. Compare Category:George W. Bush for example. I am going thru the Kremlin website and uploading a heap of photos and other things to Commons, which may be used across ALL projects; wikisource, wikiuniversity, wikibooks, wikinews, etc, etc. We have this resource available to us and we may as well take full advantage of having it. The only thing needed is categorising which I will be doing in batches as I go to make it a quicker more streamlined process for myself. --russavia (talk) 19:28, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

To be sure, you can be assured that I have not uploaded a lot of photos because after looking at them their purpose for any of the various wiki projects would be next to none. Don't forget however, that many of the photos of Putin with other people (usually notable people) can also be used to create crop versions for WP articles on the other person. Additionally, many of the photos are related to notable events, such as CIS summits, G8 summits, etc; or workings of the Russian government and its structures; or other events in Russia, such as this photo, which looking at it is just another portrait, but it is a photo of him during an interview with a Russian news program on the Kursk submarine, so it would be suitable for WP articles on that subject, for example. I have also noticed that some editors across the various language WP may be following my uploads, as no sooner am I uploading some photos, and they are being introduced into articles, Image:Viktor Chernomyrdin-1.jpg for example. I have seen that you are constant uploader of kremlin.ru-images for Wikimedia Commons. Thanks for that! One question: Do you you know where free images of the russian missile systems S-300 and S-400 can be found? Both categories have not enough or respectively none images. Can you help in that case? Hi High Contrast, I'll see what I can find on kremlin.ru - I have also sent faxes to the Ministry of Defence asking for their permission too, but its a little too soon to know one way or another whether they will reply or not, but I will ask around with various other contacts and see if they might have such photos for use too. I took a photo of this building, however not the front side, but the back side. It was because of the Sun, shining from back and there were people in the front, of whom I did not intend to include in the picture. So I ask if this picture would be good for your purpose? I did not upload it yet, first I ask you. (One of my editor-fellow in Hungarian Wikipedia tried to do a front-side picture, but they did not allow him to take photos, so he try to get a permission from the embassy...) Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hey Russavia, I've uploaded your desired photo (maybe). This is here! But I don't think this photo can satisfy you. Because, This photo wasn't so descriptive. But I think, I can't do better than that. The security is so tight and they wasn't let me to take photo neither of inside or outside. Miltary aircraft of Eygpt

Hi Russavia, I,ve removed your request from Commons delinker to move the images from and redirect Category:Aircraft of the Egyptian Air Force to Category:Military aircraft of Egypt, though although all Egyptian Air Force aircraft are Military aircraft of Egypt, not all military aircraft of Eygpt are Air Force. Category:Aircraft of the Egyptian Air Force falls within the Category:Military aircraft by operator category. Where you will see that some countries have multiple operators of military aircraft, navy, army, marines etc. Even though we do not have aircraft of the Eygptian Navy, army etc its still worthwhile having this intersection to make searching for aircraft by operator possible.KTo288 (talk) 10:51, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
