I don't want to make you reconsider your vote, in part because I really don't care about the de-admin---in my mind, Commons in the state it is currently in deserves Jcb. Ahh, well I want my user categories removed entirely, and many of my uploads still require checking -- I never was able to complete that task once the WMF banned me for no reason. Very shortly, those actions will no longer be required, and I can do the cleanup on such files. I only need to ensure that any files with possible legal issues are dealt with, and then I can leave the project for good. Why do you want your user categories removed entirely? Categorizing images by uploader is quite common and I consider that useful. Please, let them be. Heya, sorry I wasn't ignoring you. I know that user categories are used by some, but since I've been globally banned by the WMF without reason I no longer want my name associated with WMF projects, as much as is possible. Also, given the number of images I've uploaded, a category really doesn't make much sense -- all it would tell you is I've uploaded a fuckton of imagery to this forsaken project. In relation to the "Check categories" template, before my ban I was going through imagery at the rate of several thousand a day doing cleanup (whilst continuing to upload). There is prob around 150,000 images that I uploaded which needed cleanup. In the last couple of days I've even managed to deal with around 10,000 images in cleaning up. Once any images with issues are dealt with by myself, I will leave entirely, and it shouldn't be a problem them. Hope you understand my position here. Regards, Scott

Category:Buses in the United Kingdom with unknown registration details

Hi, You may wanna read COM:ROLLBACK which states and I quote "The use of rollback should normally be limited to combating vandalism, but the tool can also be used to rollback your own mistaken edits or the clearly mistaken edits of another user. It should only be used for clear-cut cases, as an automatic edit summary is provided without the opportunity for adding custom text" - My edits wasn't in any way shape or form vandalism and you've been here long enough to edit summaries should be used unless it's obvious vandalism!,

I've tagged that category for deletion as I sent it to COM:CFD where after 3 weeks it got 1 delete !vote - I'm not waiting half a century for it to be closed as Delete when I can make the process quicker myself....., Plus there's now no images in the category anyway thus making it empty & useless,

The category has message: "Administrators: Please do not delete this category even if it is empty! This category may be empty occasionally or even most of the time." Hello, thanks to you for having deleted my files ! They all are wrong (the license should be CC-BY-NC-SA but it is forbiden ! Please, tell me if i must add the template on all my files (with the template Speedydelete |1=wrong license : the picture has the license CC-BY-NC-SA) or if you could directly delete them ? There's nearly a hundred picture concerned... If you can delete them, it would be fine... here's my list. All my files dated 19 and 20 April 2016 are wrong ! Please let me know! Hi Taivo, How are you?

A while back you helped me out with a picture on commons (thanks!). I was wondering if you could help me one last time.

I uploaded a better version of File:Sander Jan Klerk at Press Night Miss Saigon London 2014.jpg. The quality is a bit higher and I noticed that the previous version had a black line on the right that translated to the actual Wikipedia page, which squashed the image just a tiny bit. It had to do with the program I saved it with at the time. My question is, can you please erase that previous version? I don't want people to be able to click on the wrong version. I assume the persmission can stay as it is the exact same picture.

Category:Guyot

Hello Taivo, you changed my speedy deletion request for Category:Guyot into a redirect to Category:Guyot (pear). I think in this case, this isn't a good idea, since there are some other "things" named Guyot that may be erroneously moved into the pear category - for example the physicist Jules Guyot. If someone isn't aware that he has an own category (Category:Jules Guyot), he might put a portrait into Category:Guyot instead. I think, in order to avoid this sort of confusion, it is best to delete Category:Guyot. Best regards - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 11:46, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

You found some small photos without metadata in Wikicology's uploads. The WMF had to remove Wikicology as a project coordinator for Wiki Photo Tours in Nigeria. There are supposed to be six project coordinators for that project which is slated to be underway. I nominated a Commons file for deletion that was uploaded by the remaining named project coordinator, Olaniyan Olushola. Upon a cursory examination of his Commons uploads I found many small photos without metadata. Olaniyan Olushola is a serial copyright violator on Commons. Many of Olaniyan Olushola's uploads may be good, but I suspect multiple copyright violations. He logged on and posted after I asked him if he would avoid copyright violation in the future. He did not respond to my inquiry.

  • File:OOU.jpeg is the same image in this Olumo Online news story published by hayzeeworld on November 16, 2015.
Second set: Small photos without metadata.
Third set: Small photos without metadata. Media are logos or derived from logos.
Fourth set: WMF logo with minimal change.
Fifth set: Media is a photo of a logo.
Sixth set: Olaniyan Olushola appears in the photo uploaded as “Own work.” Metadata shows the author as Ayo Akinwande.
Seventh set: Olaniyan Olushola uploaded as “Own work.” Metadata shows the author as Ayo Akinwande.

@Taivo: thank you for your work. Would you have time to check the media below for possible copyright violations? Olaniyan Olushola appears in the listed media despite the label "own work". Olaniyan Olushola heads the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. Another member of WUGN, Wikicology, claimed not to understand the meaning of "own work" on Wikipedia. Wikicology has had media deleted despite the label "own work" because he appeared in the media. Olaniyan Olushola may have the same problem.

8) есть категория Coats of arms of Transnistria. А я создал два векторных герба Приднестровья, но только там вместо серпа и молота - православный крест. Мне кажется что это достаточно интересные изображения. Вот они: картинка №1 и картинка №2. Я бы хотел поделиться с пользователями двумя моими вариантами герба. Разумеется это не официальный герб. Вот поэтому меня терзают сомнения могу ли я загрузить два векторных изображения в вышеуказанную категорию Герба ПМР или нет? Или стоит создать подкатегорию, типа: "Не официальные гербы Приднестровья"? Если ДА, то как назвать такую категорию на английском?

Лучше не загрузить. Я не уверен, что кроме Вас такой герб кто-то использует – я имею ввиду авторитетные источники. А если какой-нибудь авторитетный источник их использует, тогда можно. На шаблоне нужно источником показать {{own}} и ссылку на источника. Иначе файлы могут быть удалены за несуществования источника. Taivo (talk) 20:18, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

I think you have made a mistake which I would normally ignore as the actual picture in question is not worth a great deal of argument. However your point seems to be that you don't like the way that YouTube labels freely licensed pictures and that is a big deal. This is a very popular site which millions of people use. People like me and maybe you too. The choices offered by YouTube )and Vimeo) are to say "Reuse allowed". You may prefer that they explain this in a lot more detail. Does it include commercial? Have a look at our definition of Wikimedia commons Share alike..... we only mention that commercial is allowed as an afterthought to confirm the readers impression - that of course it is allowed. Can you consider if you are willing to reconsider? If not then I'd like to take this higher as its an important point. IMO it is not as precise as we may like but this is real world decision making and YouTube is a vast resource that we should try and use where the license is generous. User:Victuallers, thank you for asking. I am not experienced with YouTube. My computer does not make voice and it does not play some kind of videos. Therefore I do not watch YouTube videos.
Here an unexpected thing happened. YouTube discovered, that I am in Estonia, and showed some (not all) things in Estonian language. When I clicked the license link, then I was showed a broken page https://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/et/creative-commons.html . I did not realize, that the license is not translated into Estonian. I was confused and I did not know, what kind of license is it. Today I manually changed in the link "et" into "en" and got English text. The text shows, that editing (that means derivative work) is allowed. So the video is actually under free license and I will close the request differently.
In the future I know, that while Commons never changes between en and et unexpectedly and without saying that, YouTube does that. Taivo (talk) 20:17, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Please do not do that. You are not the original photographer. OTRS-permission from original photographer is needed. If the photo is deleted meanwhile, then after receiving the permission the file is restored. Taivo (talk) 05:55, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Dear, Thank you for the heads up. Feeling the need to explain myself with regards to the last warning for copyright violations. Regarding the File:HISTOIRE D'O.jpg and as a new contributor I did not make enough research to understand well the Wiki Commons guidelines. Mistake of a new comer. File:ERICROCHAT.jpg and File:ERIC ROCHAT.png are present on my personal website @ mathieurochat.com Here again I should have known that a file already used in other places was not allowed, even so they are mine. For HISTOIREDOCHAPITRE2.jpg this picture is the only poster I have to portrait the movie. I have the copyrights over this image as the son in law of the screenplay writer and director. Called "Ayant Droit" in France. For File:ERICROCHATPHOTO.jpg as explained the digital picture was taken from an original photo. The original photo is my work; I'm the photographer. This is why I asked if I should scan it instead. I hope it will not be deleted. Nevertheless I will ask you before submitting a scan from the original. In the event you have any advices to prevent me from making honest mistakes I appreciate it. Leads to page I should read, best way to appeal for deleted files... Thank you in advance. Thank you for asking, user:Hannolans. You created template {{Attribution-EP}} on 14th of February 2016. But on 5th of May Martin H. deleted the template, citing Commons:Deletion requests/Template:EuroparlTag, which was closed by Polarlys as deleted in 2007, because Europarlament prohibits derivative works of its videos. User:Regasterios editor is abusing the power and everybody is chasing, it would be good to restrict rights! There were many complaints it has been in recent years, unfortunately, does not perform useful work. The Hungarian Wikipedia he is abusing admin rights, this incorrect behavior!

Delinking files

Since you're an admin I thought you would know... The following files (and alot others)

Usually Commonsdelinker does that. I am not very familiar with that. I have a feeling, that in some circumstances Commonsdelinker does not remove redlinks – that's only feeling, I do not have evidence. Also there have been times, when Commonsdelinker was down and did not work at all. I think, that all those redlinks must be removed manually. You can create a request in User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands, but I do not know, how much time it takes. Taivo (talk) 15:37, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

I deleted only one your upload, file:Mauno Kuusisto.png. This is film screenshot and films are protected with copyright in Finland 70 years (1961 films until 2032). They were not randomly chosen and we need pics for the Wikipedia "Resting bitch face" article. You say out of scope but they were in scope. They were even placed and had links to the article (until one editor removed them). They were under discussion at the article.   Not done The reason, why I deleted the photos, was "small unused personal photo without metadata". That means: the files have scope problems AND copyright problems. You say, that the files were in scope – OK then. But I think, that the files were not your own work as you claimed, but copyright violations. If you are the photographer, then why the files were so small and without EXIF data? If you upload them again with big size (for example, 1500×2000 pixels) and with EXIF data, then I believe, that they are your own work. What? I never said or claimed either photo was my own work. They were flickr photos I found with proper licensing. I cropped them down and uploaded them with proper linkage back to the authors. Resting Bitch Face is a proper scientific term now for the face as shown here, so I labeled the photos as our wikipedia article is titled. If you didn't like the titles I gave you could have changed them. If you are saying that the authors who uploaded them to flickr stole them, that's a different story. You must nominate them for deletion with {{delete}} template. If you want to delete them during first week after uploading, then they are eligible for speedy deletion and you can use {{speedydelete}} instead. I can think of the possibility that some of these might be Non-copyright restrictions, whereas some are definitely valid and obvious reasons outlined in the Deletion policy. Thank you for asking, User:Finnusertop. Usually failed license review is a reason to speedy delete. In my opinion, these files were exception and I did not feel myself comfortable with speedy deletion. The files have been in Commons for years, some even 10 years, if I remember correctly. They had different and a bit strange licenses, which almost satisfied Commons requirements. It is possible, that these licenses violate Commons demands. Feel free to nominate them for regular deletion. In my home wiki a user uploaded a lot of photos with license "Can be used only for good purposes." They were nominated for deletion, because all media here must be usable for bad purposes also. After regular deletion request (and after uploader refused to change license) they were deleted. This file (on the right) has countries marked red were no terrorist attacks happened, e.g. Alaska, Mali, Mauritania, Chad, Sudan, Western Sahara, Georgia, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Thailand. Compare with the List of Islamist terrorist attacks on en:wp. How does no one notice that? Why are countries marked red were no terror attacks happened??

Hello, thanks for the quick answer and the links! The albanian "Podujevo bus bombing" was due to ethnical not religious conflicts. And no Terror attacks in Sudan, only terror groups hiding there. Furthermore no incidents found for, Alaska, Western Sahara, Georgia, Macedonia and Montenegro. The following countries should be removed from the map (i.e. blanked white): Alaska, Western Sahara, Georgia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Sudan.

Still Western Sahara, Georgia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Sudan are wrong on the map. Taivo, Interfase is a topic-banned user on Wikipedia who has a long history of POV disruptive editing against Armenian topics. His deletion of Karam Sloyan is not sincere in that regard. As for the picture itself, the photograph wasn't based off of a photograph but a video reportage conducted by an Armenian news agency that was released under creative commons rights. You are misleadibg the issue. Therebare following problems with the image, none of which you have explained in your comment. I'd appreciate if you reply to each of them:
  • The image is NO MORE available at the source. It was there in the past but no more there. So where does it leave us as regards to citing a source?
  • The Indian Navy DOES NOT hold the copyright of the image as it was not taken in India but Bangladesh. So giving the OTRS ticket at the first place was wrong as The Indian Navy website was nit the original copyright holder. It is like anyone can upload a copyrighted image to his website and starts giving 'Permissions' to Commons. Is that how it works on commons? Because if so, I'd love to upload random copyrighted pics to my blog and then send OTRS tickets/permissions to you so that it can be used at Commons too. This is gaming the system; nothibg else.
  • As regards ownership, thus pic is owned by THREE countries Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. Unless Bangladeshi copyright ends in 2032 (Pakistan's end 10 year earlier) the image cannit be free. Indian Navy has nothing to do with the image.

I try to answer your questions one by one.

  • Is OTRS-permission still valid when it is gone from source site? Yes, it is. Free licenses are irrevocable. Trusted user Racconish verified the license and it does not matter anymore, does the photo exist on source site or not.
  • How can Indian FoP be applicable, when the image was taken in Bangladesh? The question is totally irrelevant, the photo has nothing to do with freedom of panorama. By the way, India and Bangladesh have the same rules for freedom of panorama.
  • The Indian Navy has no rights to the pic as it was taken in Bangladesh. The place of photographing is irrelevant. Indian Navy can take photos all over the world, in any country in the world.

  • Indian Navy DOES NOT hold the copyright of the image, this pic is owned by THREE countries Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. That's misunderstanding, the photo cannot be owned by three countries. Here is only one photographer and if he was from Indian Navy, then Indian Navy is sole owner of copyright.
  • How does commons deal with images having no source? The photos were there at the time, when the license was verified, that's all we need.

The Indian Navy took the picture?? Who said that the IN is the copyright holder? The pic was taken by AFP. Sources: [2] & [3]. That's why I am saying that the OTRS was incorrect. Can someone provide me the source which says that the pic was taken by Indian Navy? The website just hosted the photo and then sent a ticket when asked to. A dot 'in' domain made it look legit. Who said that the IN is the copyright holder? They said it themselves. The source, which says, that the picture was taken by Indian Navy, is OTRS ticket. You linked two photos, but this is not the same photo. Apparently this was such kind of event, where a lot of photographers from different countries participated. You linked photos made by AFP, but Indian Navy can still be photographer of Commons photo. The photo comes from official website of Indian Navy and OTRS-permission is sent by webmaster. Some photos here are clearly not the same as Commons photo. I said: there was a lot of photographers from different countries. The others do not say photographer at all. This is the same pic, but the source says the Website's archives. This is also the same pic, but cropped/darkened, and the source says that it's Website's file photo. This too is the same and doesnt mention any source. The same photo, but no source. Again same pic but no source. This link is about the same photo, but it again does not mention any source. Please note that all these websites are Indian, wonder why couldn't they credit it to their Navy? I have searched alot, but failed to find any website or book which says that this very famous pic belongs to the Indian Navy. And now, the link it was available on is also dead. XIX, but in 1982 his color portrait done in oil on canvas by Antonio Calzada Urquiza term picture is currently taking as seen in black and white. Линукс дистрибутивы можно переделать так, что по внешнему виду их будет не отличить от проприетарных операционных систем. Отсюда возникает воспрос, разрешается ли загрузка на Викисклад таких картинок? В частности, я не понимаю являются ли обои для рабочего стола Mac OS X - свободными?

Bonjour Taivo. Je viens de constater non sans regret que vous avez supprimé 2 photos de la page Amel Hamrouni alors qu'il n'y avait aucune raison de les supprimer. Franchement, vous abusez de vos droits d’administrateur mais aussi de la situation linguistique qui ne m'a pas permis de me défendre en anglais. Les photos que vous avez supprimées injustement sous prétexte qu'elles sont soumises à des droits d'auteur sont de moi. Et les informations EXIF l'attestent, de même que des publications personnelles sur mon blog datant d'avril 2015: Amel Hamrouni: retour sur une vie. Par conséquent, je vous prie de bien vouloir remettre les photos supprimées et cesser ce harcèlement pas du tout aimable ni justifié qui cible mes publications. Sorry, I do not understand French. Probably you write, because all your uploads are deleted, mostly as copyright violations, and that's why I blocked you for a week. You have uploaded 15 files, which are now deleted by 5 administrators, including myself. I nominated for deletion one of your uploads and deleted file:Amel Hamrouni 01.jpg and file:Amel Hamrouni 022.jpg, because they were small photos without metadata and found elsewhere in the web with earlier date and at least same resolution, for example, at http://amriahmed.blogspot.com.ee/search?updated-min=2015-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2016-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=2 from August 2015. That case own work is considered unlikely. Sometimes a regular deletion request is created, but considering your habit to upload copyright violations as own work, I decided to delete the files speedily. Both ... You can read COM:USERPAGE. Everyone has right to have a userpage, but it is good not to start from creating it. I try to upload several pictures that were sent to me of their authors to illustrate articles about their production. They let me distribute their pictures freely and I hope you will not block me for this. I think that I choose license information correctly now. Чистка истории...

1) удалите из истории этого файла три версии от участника Hellerick загруженные 15 июня: File:2016 EU Referendum Ballot Paper ru.svg
Участник Hellerick не возражает. Дело в том, что в первоначальном файле у меня осталась одна не переведённая графа. Пользователь Hellerick очень быстро сделал перевод этой графы на русский и опубликовал три версии. Однако, его первоначальный перевод показался мне далеко не идеальным и я попросил его сделать более точный перевод на русский. В результате, 16 июня, он загрузил новую версию с идеальным переводом и оформлением, за что я ему очень благодарен. Поэтому, чтобы не вводить пользователей в заблуждение не точным переводом одной графы, удалите пожалуйста три версии вышеуказанного файла, загруженные пользователем Hellerick - 15 июня.
Таким образом там должно остаться две версии: от 16:40, 15 июня 2016 и от 12:53, 16 июня 2016.
Примечание: если вам понадобится аналог данной картинки на эстонском языке, то вы можете написать точный текст, а я сделаю картинку.

2) удалите пожалуйста первую версию файла от 30 мая (это мой файл): File:Raccoon Mountain Pumped-Storage Plant-ru.svg
Я уже ранее вас просил, тогда там было три версии, но вы решили оставить две. Дело в том что в версии от 30 мая 2016 была допущена ошибка в тексте, смыслового характера. На что мне было сделано справедливое замечание. А именно, я написал «здание электростанции», а нужно было «турбинный зал».

3) создайте пожалуйста в категории Logos of LibreOffice подкатегорию с SVG файлами. Я затрудняюсь в правильном названии на английском данной подкатегории.

4) есть метка: 

{{Created with LibreOffice}}

Если эту метку поставить в описании файла, то он будет отображаться в категории Created with LibreOffice
Однако, там есть подкатегории, например: SVG created with LibreOffice
Но, т.к. в описании файла стоит вышеуказанная метка, то переместить файл в подкатегорию не получается. Поэтому можно создать как бы под - метку: 

{{SVG created with LibreOffice}}

Или есть какой то иной способ переместить файлы, например в подкатегорию SVG created with LibreOffice?

Спасибо. Кажется по четвёртому пункту я понял вашу мысль как можно навести порядок в категории Created with LibreOffice. Я думаю, что нужно при правке описания файла просто удалить код {{Created with LibreOffice}} и добавить, например, категорию SVG created with LibreOffice. А также ещё одна маленькая просьба. Благодаря тому, что вы создали категорию Screenshots of LibreOffice in Microsoft Windows 7 я создал аналогичные категории для Виндоуз ХР, 8 и 10. Таким образом в категории Screenshots of LibreOffice назревает острая необходимость с создании новой категории Скриншоты ЛибреОфис по операционным системам. The files were deleted by 5 different administrators. I deleted only one of them. I nominated some of them for deletion, because I thought, that they violated copyright. You had almost month to participate in deletion request discussion; you did not say anything. The files can be restored, if copyright holder (sometimes your wife?) sends OTRS-permission.
