First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Faltando aun horas para el fin del concurso Wikiovemonuments recibe mis congratulaciones por tu virtualmente imbatible liderazgo en la cantidad de fotografías. Está claro que en este concurso se compite por la fotografía que agrade a una comisión y quizàs hasta gane, quien saque una sola, sin embargo reconozco que tu claro esfuerzo en rescatar las imàgenes de nuestro país... porque en eso ya ganaste! --Ciberprofe (talk) 18:36, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hacía mucho tiempo que estaba juntando fotos para subirlas a Wikimedia, porque compartir información por amor al arte es algo que va en mi sangre. Cada viaje que hago, tomo fotos con la intención de mostrarlas, y qué mejor si se las muestro a quienes buscan en internet conocer los lugares y construcciones que ejemplifican nuestra identidad cultural. El concurso fue la excusa para subirlas de una buena vez, si tuviera más tiempo aprovecharía yo mismo de editar los artículos para Wikipedia, tal como hice con los Murales de Siqueiros y Guerrero, pero tengo la desgracia (o la gracia) de tener más proyectos e ideas por hacer que horas del día para concretarlas. Hola, Alberto. También quiero felicitarte por las calidad y cantidad de tus fotos y por el premio. Por el momento, solo he visto "en grande" las de calle Centenario, calle General Lagos y las de los fuertes de la bahía de Corral, pero todas me han gustado mucho. Modifiqué algunas descripciones de las fotos de la calle valdiviana, porque pertenecen a la calle Yungay, pero de todas maneras forman parte de la zona típica definida en el decreto. Muchas gracias! y gracias por cambiar las descripciones, como no soy de Valdivia, puedo confundir las calles. Sólo pongo las manos al fuego por las descripciones de fotos de la octava región, como Cobquecura, Chillán y Concepción, en las otras puede haber algún error involuntario. Hola. Lo siento, me equivoqué, pero puede que igual te lleves el premio. Leí a la rápida y pensé que el premio especial era para quien subiera más fotos y en realidad es para quien suba "mayor cantidad de fotografías participantes de monumentos diferentes". La redacción es etraña, pero puede que ganes incluso si quiere decir "fotos de la mayor cantidad de monumentos". Un saludo. --Lin linao ¿dime? 16:03, 4 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
