Midway edit

Please be more careful with your category work. There is no reason to merge the categories for Midway Yard and the Midway maintenance facility, as they occupy separate periods in history. Additionally, there is no indication that the current yard has the proper name "Midway Maintenance Facility". Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:45, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

They do have consistent names throughout the time periods as well as currently the yard is called the Groton Maintenance of Way Base. So not even Midway Yard. I was going to correct the capitalization seeing as other pages appear to have it correct but this one. On top of that the maps I have from library of congress do say it "Midway" however everywhere else I look as well as on the documents saved image it says "Midway Railyard". So in fact the page shouldn't be called Midway Yard at all. Funforme3 (talk) 06:54, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
For the modern facility, I cannot find any evidence for commons use of either of the capitalized proper names "Groton Maintenance of Way Base" or "Midway Maintenance Facility". Can you provide any evidence of either of these being the official name? If not, then we should use "Midway maintenance facility" as a descriptive name. This facility seems to have been constructed during the Amtrak era; while it occupies part of the former yard site, it was decades removed from the New Haven's yard. They should have separate Commons categories to avoid confusion.
Similarly, I cannot find any evidence of "Midway Railyard" being a proper name for the New Haven's yard at the site. Edward Ozog's thorough article in Shoreliner (1981 vol. 12 issue 2) uses "Midway yard"; other modern references seem to mostly use "Midway Yard". What sources are you getting your name from?
