Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Laut Aufnahmedaten wurde das Foto am 11.6.2006 aufgenommen. Da steht (falls MESZ) die Sonne im W (274°) in 27° Höhe, falls MEZ im WNW (285°) in 24° Höhe, Schatten haben daher die doppelte Länge der Höhe. Ganz im Vordergrund ist eine Teerstraße, die Sonne scheint mir etwas von hinten links zu kommen. Die Blickrichtung ist daher zwischen Ost und NO. In Bildmitte ist quer zur Blickrichtung eine Reihe von ca. 6 Häusern zu sehen, die sich hinter den Bäumen möglicherweise zu den Häusern links fortsetzt. Letztere sind etwa 1 1/2 mal so hoch wie erstere, erstere also etwa 1 1/2 mal so weit weg wie letztere. Ungarten-/Hoholzstraße laufen etwa S - N (würde zur Teerstraße passen), aber östlich davon finde ich in OSM nirgends eine solche Häuserreihe. Außerdem finde ich nirgends einen solchen Baumbestand, und dass ein solcher Baumbestand weitgehend verschwunden ist, scheint mir sehr unwahrscheinlich. Ich hatte übrigens vor vielen Jahren versucht, die Fotografin Geheimnisträgerin zu kontaktieren: keine Antwort.

Die Fotos der Kirchenfenster anderswo hochzuladen habe ich kein Interesse.

Ich habe eine Idee. Östlich von Hähnchen (an der NO-Ecke von Hoholz, aber knapp außerhalb der Stadtgrenze) läuft ein geteerter Feldweg in N-S-Richtung. Östlich davon ist jetzt eine Baumplantage, die aber 2005 noch nicht existierte, weiter östlich auch größere Bäume. Das könnte der Standort sein, habe es aber noch nicht überprüft. Aus der Nähe der Kiribaum-Plantage sind von den Häusern von Birlinghoven höchstens die Spitzen weniger Dachgiebel zu sehen; auch mit dem Horizont kann ich keine Übereinstimmung finden, passt also nicht. Benutzerin Geheimnisträgerin hat übrigens 14 Minuten später das Foto "L 83 towards Holzlar.jpg" aufgenommen, wo die Sonne ziemlich genau im Westen steht. - Bekommen Sie eine Nachricht, dass ich Ihnen hier geantwortet habe? - Gruß F. Ich habe Ihre Antwort erst jetzt bemerkt. Nein, ich habe keine Benachrichtigung erhalten. Anscheinend kann man erst seit Kurzem Benachrichtigungen für einzelne Abschnitte einschalten; davor musste man sich auf die Beobachtungsliste verlassen.
