Image formats

edit

Hi, thank you for uploading some images to Commons. Here's a tip: Use the right image format for the kind of image. As a general rule, this is JPEG for photographs, and PNG for most other kinds of images. Using the wrong format can bloat the file size and/or degrade the quality of the image. Most modern graphics applications will give you the choice between these formats among others. See also Commons:File types#Images. Good luck. Smjg (talk) 10:40, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Did you create the COVID file or did you just copy it

edit

@Georgek98: Hi Georgek98

Did you create this file? If so, we need to sort out the copyright labels so that it does not get deleted for lack of appropriate copyright notices. If you did not create it, then it would appear that you breached the originator's copyright by loading it here and it is likely to be deleted for copyright infringement.

Hi, yes I am the original creator of the image as I own all the copyright rights of covid19livespread.com from where the image comes from. Please, let me know how I am able to display the image on the page as I believe it will help inform people. Apologizes for the late reply. I wasn't aware that the User talk page existed.

COVID vaccination in India

The COVID and India vaccination map is great! Someone posted it to en:COVID-19 vaccination in India.

I was checking the copyright of it. In Wikipedia you uploaded it with a Creative Commons license. The map came from covid19livespread.com, which has terms which say that this map has conventional copyright and that no one can republish it.

Are you the copyright holder of this map? If so, can you send an email into Commons:OTRS#Declaration_of_consent_for_all_enquiries confirming your identity as the person who created and published the map, and your willingness to share it?

Thanks.

Also - I cannot easily ask you to make changes, but this map of India will shock many Indian people due to Kashmir's border. We do not yet have a map recommendation because the United Nations also uses restrictive copyright on their maps, but theirs is the one that seemingly the countries accept as a compromise. Forget about this, I just wanted to mention it.

Hi, yes I am the original copyright holder of this material. I would like to share it to the page as I believe it will help people stay informed. So as I can understand the only way I am able to share the material is to either remove the copyright licence from covid19livespread.com or to approve that this specific material can be re-used? Please, let me know.Georgek98 (talk) 21:07, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, can you please upload a newer version of the map? Also, what source are you using for the state-wise data? Thanks a lot! -Jose Mathew C (talk) 14:07, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry for the late response. For state-wise data I use the official government website of India. This also applies with all other region-wise countries. Georgek98 (talk) 21:06, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
