Commons category Sutherland Bridge

Hi, in a May 2022 edit summary on the Commons category for Sutherland Bridge, you indicated that the two pictures in the category were not of the correct bridge. I think you were correct. I located the correct bridge, got permission from the owner to photograph it, and have added four photos of it to the category. Now I am working on cleaning up the mess. We have the same Problem with the Category:Wheeler Bridge - the NRHP image does not match. Hofoen (talk) 13:47, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Regarding Category:Wheeler Bridge, I agree that the bridge pictured is not the one described in the HABS/HAER inventory form. I think this picture on Flickr tells the story. The bridge was replaced in 1929, with half of the original, wooden structure left on the riverbank near the new bridge. Also,

1. Here is a better-quality, sharper copy of the HABS/HAER inventory form.
2. The inventory form indicates the Wheeler Bridge is on the Poage Ranch. I did a Google search and found this real-estate listing for the ranch. Among the many pictures are two that show half of the old bridge on the river bank.
3. One of my two 2019 pictures here actually shows part of the earlier bridge, if you look closely on the left.

Nice finds. As far as I understand now, we have the following 3 bridge locations (some with original and/or replacement bridges)

1. Sutherland Bridge
   1. described in [1]History Colorado
   2. described in [2]HABS/HAER - BUT the location seems to differ from History Colorado (whereas the map is not very detailed)
   3. images of a replacement bridge are currently in Category:Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado - ONLY IF the location in History Colorado is valid.
2. "bridge identical to Sutherland bridge", 2 miles downstream of Sutherland bridge
   1. only mentioned in [3]HABS/HAER
   2. images of the bridge are currently in Category:Sutherland Bridge
3. Wheeler Bridge
   1. described in [4]History Colorado
   2. described in [5]HABS/HAER
   3. images of the original bridge and a replacement bridge are in Category:Wheeler Bridge

I would just swap the pictures between Category:Sutherland Bridge and Category:Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado. You could split the categories between old and replacement bridges, but I would do this, if there are more images.

If it's clear, that the NRHP status has changed:

• The NRHP status should be removed from the images showing the replacement bridges and perhaps be added to the bridge categories. Also the Category:Former National Register of Historic Places in Colorado should be added to the bridge category.

But I don't now the NRHP rules. If a bridge is destroyed it's easy. But if the bridge has been moved to the riverbank or translocated to a different location...

Yes, I still have some concerns. There are three bridges in question (in order from upstream to down): the Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado, the Sutherland Bridge, and the Wheeler Bridge. The Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado was mistakenly believed to be the Sutherland Bridge. This has been fixed by adding correct pictures of the Sutherland Bridge to the Sutherland Bridge category and by creating a new category for the Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado, a bridge that was never on the NRHP, and placing the pictures of it in the new category. Finally, there's the Wheeler Bridge, and the pictures in the Wheeler Bridge category show a replacement bridge. I think the only remaining cleanup work that remains is for this third bridge, which I have slowly started. I am sorry for making this so complicated. Do you agree with my take on this? I think I am done making edits to the images and categories for the three bridges. I hope you agree with my approach and ask that you make any changes you think necessary and that you fix any errors you see. Thank you for your help. There is a redirect for the category Wheeler Bridge to the category for Wheeler Bridge replacement bridge. I don't think this redirect needs to be there, especially if someone uploads a picture of the original Wheeler Bridge to commons, which will require the redirect be changed to a category. No. The four pictures in the category Category:Sutherland Bridge are all of the Sutherland Bridge. The bridge is a timber truss bridge and the pictures match the bridge described in the HABS HAER inventory document The pictures in the category Category:Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado were mistakenly thought to be pictures of the the Sutherland Bridge for many years. The pictures now in the category Bridge at 12667 US Highway 160 Del Norte, Colorado are indeed at that address. This bridge is not on the National Register and no known name has been assigned to it other than the one now in the category name. Hi, ich hatte eine Katgorie für die Strecke Category:Bahnstrecke Jever–Harle angelegt und alle Bilder dorthin verschoben. Ich hatte nicht gesehen, dass die Übersichtkarten sowohl in dieser Kategorie, als auch in der Streckenkategorie landen (warum eigentlich?). Habe die Kategorie wieder ergänzt.
